For all my American Friends, and those all over the world who love Freedom: Happy 4th of July!!
4th of July Care for Pets 7 Ways to Keep Your Pet Safe on the Fourth
Provided By: Associated Content, Inc.
Celebrating the Fourth of July is one of the most wonderful parts of the year. It's a reminder of our country's independence and how persistence can pay off. It's also a great time for family and fun. However, this joyous time can translate into trauma for our pets.
Your dog or cat may fall under great stress during this holiday period. From the heat to the extra loud noises, your pet may feel extreme fear and act out. As a result, it's important to take extra precautions to protect them.
To help your pet successfully make it through the Fourth of July, take the following precautions:
1) Don't take your pets to fireworks displays. This point cannot be stressed enough. Although you may enjoy the sounds and colors of a great Fourth of July celebration, your pet most likely will not. As a result, you'll spend the next few days trying to pull them out from underneath the bed or cleaning up a mess because they are still reacting from a traumatic experience.
2) Don't leave your pet closed up in a car. Every year we hear about the death of a beloved family pet because they were left unattended in a closed, hot car. The hot air in a car can affect an animal quickly and cause them to suffer a serious health injury or die suddenly. For this reason, it's important to take them out of the car with you or leave them at home. You should also be sure to provide them with a lot of water to drink.
3) Opt to leave your pets at home. One of the best places for your pets during this holiday is at home. You should keep them in a sheltered, quiet area. Keep items they can destroy out of the way just in case they do become upset and want to destroy whatever is in reach. You also will want to leave on the TV or radio playing at a normal volume to keep they company while you're out celebrating the day.
4) Consult with your local veterinarian. If you know that your pet acts out every Fourth of July, call your veterinarian early. They will help you find a way to alleviate the fear and anxiety your pet feels at this time of year. They can also provide you with medication to soothe your pet if necessary.
5) Don't leave your pet outside and unattended. Because your pet may react to the loud noises they hear, do not leave them outside and unattended during this holiday. He or she may be tempted to run out from under your fence and become lost. Your pet may also panic and become entangled in their chain.
6) Make sure your pets wear their tags. As an extra precaution, keep your pets identification tags on them. Maybe your dog or cat wouldn't normally stray, but if they react to a loud sound, they may run out of the yard and become lost. For this reason, you need to make sure he or she has on an identification tag. It'll keep you from making an unnecessary trip to the animal shelter.
7) Make arrangements for your pet if you plan to travel. If you plan on going out of town for the Fourth of July, make proper arrangements for your pet. This may not be the best time to take them with you, so you'll want to take them to a safe, quiet place for this holiday.
In conclusion, the Fourth of July should be a day enjoyed by everyone including our pets. As a result, it's important to take the proper steps to make sure it's a joyous period for all. Follow these tips and you'll ensure that your pet will be safe and secure during this holiday.

Those that tease or torment animals deserve a special place in Hell. Those who laugh and do nothing when an animal, or a person for that matter, is hurt or scared, deserve to be called to answer to God. Immediately. In person.
