For the last regular football game this past season, the directors from our school and our rival school decided it'd be a fun idea to put both bands together for the halftime show. The show consisted of two stand tunes: Land of 1000 Dances and Iron Man, as well as the drill teams. We only rehearsed once, but I think it went all right. Unfortunately, I can't find any videos of it online, so you had to have been there to see it. I'd have to say it was probably the most interesting experience I've ever had, even though the band was still smaller than a certain AHS.

Anyways, ever done anything like this? If you have, what did your bands think?

That has actually been the tradition between our school and our rival school for years. Up until recently we had just done patriotic music but starting my freshman year, we have gotten both bands on the field and played a joint piece. In 2006 we played Dani California, in 2007 we played Freebird and this past year we played Kanye West.

Generally, on the last game of the year, which is the U of A vs. ASU rivalry game, the bands meet that morning and both perform that year's show for each other. Then we put both bands on the field and rehearse the music together. We then discuss how to get on and off the field and run it a few times before performing it for the fans that night. It has really formed a good bond between our bands so even though the schools have a rivalry, our bands get along very wel with each other.
