well, as most of you know, i was laid off from my job at the beginning of december. i've recently found out that my company's biggest customer, making over 85% of the business at the factory, has cancelled all their orders and shipped them to india. so, now i'm not just laid off, but i'm now officially a displaced worker.

i've been sitting around moping about my misfortune when a thought occurred to me. i needed to look at this situation a different way. there has to be a silver lining to this cloud. so i was talking to my friend, who is a nursing student. she talked to her school and they called me yesterday. they sent a package in the mail which i should be recieving later this week.

now, i've been skeptical about going back to school because when i had to drop out of college when i was 19, i neglected to pay my student loans. needless to say, the loans went into default. not my brightest moment, i assure you. the school directed me to their financial aid. htey're finding out where my student loan needs to be paid to so i can start making payments. after 4 consecutive timely payments, my loans should come out of default and i can get more financial aid. so, in the next 4 monts, i should be on my way back to school to become a certified nurses aide.

I wish you the best of luck with that. Student loans are a pain. I've been fighting not to go into default with mine since June. Just make sure you ask what can be done and don't take no for an answer. I've backed down one too many time about my student debt and only recently found out that I had more rights that I first had thought.
I think you would make a great CNA, your very kind as well as helpful. It isn't exactly an easy job. Pretty thankless.

Wish you the very best in your studies...they make good money, it is why my dear mother always harrassed me to go to school for nursing sweatdrop xp whee confused . I too dropped out from my studies when I was 18 (rebellion I tell ya...it only gotten me pregnant stare emo ). I was lucky though, I only waste my parents savings for my college (really young without a thought of how life really is). As of this day they still want to help me out, but I rather go to school and learn the hard way, this way I am more motivated to keep on studying (since it's my money I am spending or debt I am trying to avoid stressed xd xp ).

As everyone else as said, good luck! 3nodding I know first hand that it isn't easy to go back to school after being in the workforce and being of "non-traditional" age. I am a non-traditional student at the present and I know the first week of school I was scared and horrified, but I've since calmed down and am doing my best to stay out of debt. 3nodding

YAY! I'm happy to hear that you found the motivation to get your feet not just back on the ground- but running. Don't surrender, you can accomplish certification and make a kick a** Nurse's assistant.

Good Luck! ^^ That is a good thing to get into and it will probably pay off in the end. I know I'm not looking forward to paying off my loans in the near future. xp
