3 advantages. 1. Can legally buy alcohol 2. More mature because of life experience. 3. More freedom to do what I want. (was my experience) I am actually 36, so your perspective may vary. I hope to eventually find the right person to marry someday in the future, but it's a big decision to make and I won't rush into it. It's not my nature to do so. I also want an better job so I can creative more of a savings nestegg for later years.

my 3 advantages
1. i can drink and buy alcohol everywhere. 2. going where i want and beeing outside as long as i want 3. make my own decisions without need to ask someone
well i´m 23, that´s not much, at the moment my biggest aim is to find a job i really like and can imginge to do for a very long time. a bigger aim(more a dream) is to marry and get kids. i want a boy and a girl, those i will dress really cute after i learned how to make clothes at my own.

1. Now that I can drink legally, I'm not afraid of the police busting up any parties I'm at xp Plus, there is some novelty of drinking at bars 2. Being able to experience things more freely... I've always tried to do things even when I was younger, but now it's not seen as "foolish" or "a waste" when I want to leave the state for something or travel. Not that I ever cared what anyone ever really thought. It just got annoying to hear anything that started or ended with, "Aren't you a little too young?" 3. I feel more mature being able to stand up for myself and take full responsibility for anything that I have or haven't done. I've been pretty much doing this for as long as I can remember, but it seems more pronounced now that I'm older. 4. I can buy real guns now whee
I suppose the greatest thing about being over 21 is being able to recollect all the wisdom I've received and gained and learned over the years and still fit it into a good, healthy, and positive perspective. I've always considered myself pretty mature for my age when I was younger, and now that I'm older, I think I can say I feel almost just right in my frame of mind. Although, there are still a few rites of passage that I need to take on... Like learning how to drive sweatdrop And as far as my future goes, I'm really looking forward to being 25. I think it's kind of a checkpoint in life... I hope I'll be settled into something I WANT to do rather than just going through the motions. Just so long as I can look back to my present day 22 year old self and feel satisfied as to where I am, I think I'll be okay 3nodding

1. Job security at work (for me anyway). I always will be able to scan alcohol for the kids at the grocery store because anyone under 18 cannot scan alcohol. 3nodding
2. Recalling the "good old days" with those younger than me and imparting words of wisdom to anyone who will listen to me. xd
3. Actually understanding and conversing with others about the economy (which sucks right now), politics, and other "grown-up" topics. 3nodding
4. Being able to legally own part of my mom's estate. blaugh
5. Able to sign for myself at doctor's offices and other places that usually want a parent or guardian to sign for anyone under 18. 3nodding
6. Rejoice when asked if I'm "old enough to scan that?" in reference to the alcoholic purchase (see #1) and be eager to show them my license to proof that I'm over 21. 4laugh
I'm currently 27 years young going on 28. cool The only things I'm looking forward to doing when "I'm older" is, like Tillisnut said, getting married to the right person and starting a family of my own, which would envolve my other thing : having sex for the first time. I'm a virgin and will remain so until I'm married wink . Really, there's not too much else I'm just waiting or looking forward to doing...maybe that's it! I'm looking forward to doing nothing when I'm older. mrgreen Yeah, that's it! wink

some of the advantages i've found of being my age:
1. i can buy alcohol anytime i want, as long as i have the funds for it 2. i don't have to answer to anyone about "staying out all hours of the night" or "sleeping in too late" 3. my auto insurance has dropped due to me being over the age of 25
i'm actually looking forward to my "golden years". yeah, i said it. i want senior citizen discounts, damnit.

I don't want to enter the contest- but here are some of mine.
*1. Best part of getting older is now that I'm 25 and appear to only be getting older, people no longer pester me about pre-marital sex. My religious friends used to come down on me-- even when I was still a virgin O_o. As you grow older people stop prying into your personal business. There seems to be an unsaid thing for a woman over the age of 25 who's never been married that nobody in their right mind would dare speak about her having premarital sex. It's the upside of the "poor thing, she's never been married" people understand that after a quarter of a century you might want to get laid.
Keep in mind I'm not saying it's cool to go boinking about. But I do like that as you get older people let you make your own judgment call about that. smile
2. Stories. You gather experiences as others mention with time. The trick is remembering them. But yes, it's great to have a plethora of adventures to recant at parties. With time we have a chance to get more wacky stories. Hee hee.
3. Less Co-Signing. It was so nice to get my apartment without having my mom co signing. I was so proud and excited when my application was accepted, my deposit placed, and C309 became mine, all mine!

I think one of the best parts of being over 21 is just being able to look at the list of reason's people have about being over 21 and being able to buy alcohol and just thinking "Is that what's really important to people?"
What I think is the best part is that people actually take you seriously and start respecting your oppinion. They understand that maybe you know what you're talking about and that you may even *gasp* know more than they do. Even if you're full of sh*t.

Wow! Alcohol was #1 on four people's lists! I guess that shows how socially important it is in our social lives. Personally, I probably wouldn't drink at all if it wasn't "what everyone else was doing". For me, turning 21 meant : #1 Being old enough to have finished my degree and get a full-time job, thus being able to get a home loan and buy a home. I'm very much a home-body, so being able to own my own piece of Australia gave me both a sense of pride and security. #2 Turning 21 meant that I was seen as an adult in the eyes of my parents. #3 Confidence in myself. I have a sister who is 15 and I often think "I'm SO pleased that I'm not a teenager anymore"!

chibihotachan I think one of the best parts of being over 21 is just being able to look at the list of reason's people have about being over 21 and being able to buy alcohol and just thinking "Is that what's really important to people?" Forgive me if I'm misinterpreting what you're saying, and I can't speak for everyone who said it, but I don't think that alcohol was put down as "#1" on the list because people find it important. I didn't think these lists were made by priority at all. Alcohol is something synonymous with turning 21. Doesn't make it important, but it is one of the very first things that pops into most people's minds when they hear the age 21. Now before I'm misinterpreted- I'm not trying to be mean and I'm definitely not trying to start anything. I just felt like something should be said about it... You know... So the 21 and up crew doesn't look like a bunch of lushes and floozies and whatnot sweatdrop

i have to admit, even though i put alcohol number one in my list, it definately doesn't mean that i'm a booze-hound. i do enjoy going out for a beer every once in awhile, but it's definately not my waking thought every day. i have many more important things in my life.

I should clarify on my post that it's really the lack of nosiness into one's sex life that is nice. The upside applies to virgins as well as non-virgins because people make the automatic assumption as you're 25 +, 30+ that you're not a virgin so there is less teasing. I can see both of your points about the drinking thing and I think you're really on the same page. Honestly I enjoyed the more inventive responses smile Merc you made a good point though- for me it's not about getting in a bar to drink-- but I love to dance and the better night clubs are often 21+. Mercenaryx2070 chibihotachan I think one of the best parts of being over 21 is just being able to look at the list of reason's people have about being over 21 and being able to buy alcohol and just thinking "Is that what's really important to people?"
