Here you can teach or learn how to read, write, and speak the japanese language. teachers or students may create their own forums to keep this subforum more organised and easier to find your way around. If you have any suggestions or problems feel free to PM me and ill take care of it asap.

If anyone has iTunes you can download free podcasts on learning Japanese! Go into the iTunes store, click on podcasts, type in "japanese", and click on the podcasts titled "Learn Japanese | JapanesePod101.com (Audio and Video)" I use it and I really like it.

Aiyume Yuki The_Rawring_Pandii catsada does anyone knows how to say, "My name is amber" in Japanese? surprised i think watashi wa Amber desu It can also be "Watashi no namae wa Amber desu." Really depends on how formal you're trying to be. If you're talking to someone superior in rank (for example...your boss, a CEO or the president) then you should attempt to be more formal, which is 'Watashi wa namae wa Amber desu.' (like The_Rawring_Pandii said.) If it's just to someone of a similar rank (or lower) then it should be fine to say it as the other form. "Watashi/Atashi/Boku wa Amber desu." Formalities can be real confusing, and in shows, when a new kid introduces themselves to a class it goes sort of like: "watashi no namae wa '_______' desu. Hajimemashite, yoroshiku onegaishimasu!" Hajimemashita, Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu- Basically comes out to say "Please take care of me." Or something like that, the specifics I don't remember. I'm done now. smile

I'm done now. smile If you are talking to a superior I really would advice to use: 私はAmberともうします。 Watashi wa Amber to moushimasu. And you normally say 'hajimemashita' before you say your name. And when you have to be really polite I would replace the 'onegaishimasu' with 'onegai itashimasu'. I wouldn't use 'atashi' or 'boku' instead of 'watashi' to someone similar in rank when I do not know them that well yet. The very polite version of watashi is watakushi.
