EDIT: This thread is merely done for fun, and all of these "fail" moments are just random inconsistencies with the plot and/or characters. You can add your own "fail" moments if you think these aren't bad enough. xd ;;;;

I'm hoping to be able to order this, ranging from 10 (the least Fail of all the moments) to 1 (the biggest fail that has ever failed). Right now, it's just a collection of fail moments (only 10 crying ) so, if you guys came up with a certain order in your replies, it'd be nice!

Credit goes to Kunoichi21 for some of these!

The Narrator of the BB Murder Cases--

"Oh, I almost forgot. In the event that big-headed Near or the deluded murderer is reading these notes, then I should at least perform the basic courtesy of introducing myself, here at the end of the prologue. I am your narrator, your navigator, your storyteller. For anyone but those two, my identity may be of no interest, but I am the old world's runner up, the best dresser that died like a dog, Mihael Keehl. I once called myself by Mello, and was addressed by that name, but that was a long time ago."

I dunno about you guys, but I was under the impression that once a person is dead, they're dead. They can't come back, and definitely not to narrate a story. Mello revive-hacked for this? And because he mentions being referred to by that name "a long time ago" and refers to the world as "the old world", who is he now? They may as well just say that he came back as a shinigami or something, or worse, he is the shinigami from the Director's Cut. Why would he be narrating a novel? Who the hell knows? this is Death Note!

Rem's "favor" to Misa--

As a rule, the Death Note brings misfortune to those who use it. The sole act of giving Misa the Death Note doomed her to a life of suffering, in one way or another. No matter what Rem did (or would do, or died for), Misa would never ever be truly happy. You cant even justify that. Not even saying "Rem gave the Note to Misa so she could be able to protect herself from attackers without Rem having to intervene" works.

Misora who?--

For a character that was apparently so good with her deductive skills that she had to be killed off early in the series or the author would face complications in the story, she was powerfully stupid. Her paranoia was mentioned several times in the novel, but for a character such as her, one would think that if she were to go to the police with information on Kira, in the area where Kira resides (and where most of the killings are concentrated, in a sense), that she would go there with more than just one alias. That she would suspect everyone, because really, Kira could be anyone. Instead, she goes only with one alias instead of many. I'm not exactly saying she was better off, or that she could escape her fate somehow by having another fake name, but it would've been great to see her around for a few more panels.

And the fact that she somehow manages to kill herself without anyone ever finding the body, and it being misrepresented in the anime (in the form of a noose hanging at the top of a bunch of steps) is total fail. She could not have simply hung herself.

Matt--

Dying.

L--

Also dying.

Mello?

Don't even go there. He pretty much set himself up for it by letting Takada cover herself up before she finished undressing, giving her a chance to hide her piece of the Note. Of course, he wasn't interested in seeing her naked (and who is? gonk ) but come on, he was abducting a Kira supporter/spokesperson. It'd be serious plothax if she didn't have a part of the Death Note at her disposal.

Speaking of which, Takada's phail moment--

Was not having written down that Mello would let her free before he died. Come on, an entire slip of paper just to write one guy's name? Let's be real-- if she'd written down that he "opens the truck's back doors before dying" or "lets the captive go free" (which are pretty good ways for her to escape without accidentally writing her own name into the Note), she would've never died (or at least, wouldn't have died so quickly), and still would've been held off long enough to not be able to relay messages from Mikami to Light.

"I'll take a potato chip-- and EAT IT!"--

That was a very nice plan Light had, if it didn't consist of him actually turning his head to bite a potato chip cleanly in two. No one does that IRL. Wasn't anyone catching that on camera?!

The Unnecessary Contingency Plan--

Light making Misa erase all her memories a second time so she wouldn’t give out any clues about the Death Note if questioned was all well and good, except she was never questioned after forfeiting her memories that last time, only 'kidnapped' to the Teito Hotel. Sad, she was the only person who could effectively exact Light's revenge in an emotionally distraught, “They killed my lover!” kind of way. But instead, she ended up committing suicide.

"Is that the face of someone that says, 'I love you'?"--

Misa, an actress, went through the entire series not realizing that Light /sucked/ at acting, and didn’t actually love her. When he said he did, he spoke in a monotone voice.

Lol, pretty good. As for the BB Cases, I just think of it right before, when he knows he's about to die, but that's really all I can think of... XD

Although, I disagree on the potato chips, that's a moment of epic fun-making. XD

"The BB Murder Cases" is a work of fiction. Mello did not come back to life to narrate the story. He doesn't need to.

That is like me saying that Harry Potter is a crappy story because magic doesn't really exist.

Well, yes, I know, that was fun. But was the potato chip so strong that Light had to turn his head to bite it? That's one epic chip.

According to the order in which all of the events in DN happen, and seeing how Mello could NOT have somehow gotten the time to write a book/narrate a story directed to anyone in particular, YES the hell he did.

And that has got to be by far the WORST comparison I've ever had the misfortune of reading. Magic existing in Harry Potter is the entire premise of the story and characters in the HP series, comparable to the existence of notebooks that can kill people in DN, both of which can't happen in real life (obviously).

The point I was trying to make was that it was chronologically impossible for Mello to've written or narrated a story to/for anyone anywhere in DN's timeline, and seeing as how deaths in Death Note are final, he would have no time AFTER the events in DN to do it either.

ummm another fail momment i thought was how lite got owned in the last episode i mean near is a very smart little kid and lite is very smart adult and he never thought once to check if the real note book had been tampered with and then he looked like a fool when he tried to kill i think matsuda i can't remember im rewatching the anime but i havent gotten to the end yet but getting back to the piont he got so owned and shot up and then he ended up running away like a coward and dying anyways because ryuk won't his name in his deathnote That To Me Was The Most FAIL MOMENT In Deathnote

xD

Light and Near's plans are very very complicated. That might be another fail moment right there. They were second-guessing each other so much in the span of, say, 5 minutes, and thinking of backups to backups to their own plans and each others', that their meeting should have never happened since they would have thought far enough for that.
But somehow, they each skipped a step in their contingencies and plan F's.

lol The light and potato chip thing reminded me of the time i dressed as misa, went to an anime convention, met a light cosplayer, bought sunchips and gave him one. He was all " I shall take this sun-chip... and EAT IT!" -nom-

it was lol funny. I should've videotaped it XD

I found this rather amusing however I have to say two things.

One was about Misora. They never specified the way she killed herself. To me, I took the noose as symbolism for her death--not how she killed herself. It was just there to symbolize that death was final. Also, even the smartest of people slip up at times. Although, I would have liked to have seen more of her too.

Second, Misa knew Light didn't love her the entire time. She would be able to tell through the acting. However, she said from the start she didn't mind being used. She always knew he never loved her, but even "acting" ...even if it was horrible would be enough for her. Regardless, she would always love him knowing he didn't love her. :3 It's an amusing thought to think how she's all n__n all the time and he's all -___-. Lmao.
That's one of the things that make the "relationship" hilarious and sad at the same time. Light's such an a**.

Light is so dramatic in everything he does. Lmao. Probably no one thought otherwise about the potato chips lololo. /shot
God, imagine if he was a girl. >___>;;;
I'm surprised him looking at the porn was never brought up. Because let's be honest here--what guy wouldn't be whacking off to that. People don't usually just "look," at porn without doing something. JUST SAYIN. Definitely looked forced. (Probably L caught that anyway but said nothing, as that'd be an awkward argument in court lmao.)
