You know when you go into Starbucks or Jamba Juice, or any place where they ask you for your name so that you can claim the proper order, they ask you for your name. I like giving other people's names, or funny names that are hard to spell or just interesting names.
So, what names do you go by when you order your coffee? Have they ever refussed to write down a name, do they always believe you, and do you have any amusing stories about it?
My most recent name is "Geneva". I've also gone by Natasha, Lex, and Z.

starbucks kills real coffee houses. they seem to deliberately move into there neighborhoods, the real ones cant compete, then the beatniks have one less stronghold. this isn't just capitalism, it's genocide. lol

AEtherclaw starbucks kills real coffee houses. they seem to deliberately move into there neighborhoods, the real ones cant compete, then the beatniks have one less stronghold. this isn't just capitalism, it's genocide. lol Starbucks is starting to retract, however. After years and years of rapid development, they've recently hit a snag of over-development. Someone on RYM linked me to an article about how Starbucks is going to be downsizing, and they'll be closing almost 10% of their locations in the next 3 years.

let starbuck's die! i'm tired of 4 to 7 dollars for a cup of coffee....let us return to the glory days of 1.99$ bottomless cups and all nighter sessions at a 24 hour diner!
seriously though....I refused to patron starbucks because I realized, back in college, that what you are paying for at starbucks is the name and the psychological hype they come up with. I don't really care that their beans came shatted out the rear end of a malaysian mongoose, then hand carried across the oceans onboard a luxury liner, then blessed by a colombian drug lord before being roasted to non perfection, and sold to the masses in a really small, really crappy designer logo'd paper cup....
give me a good ole cup o' joe from huddle house, waffle house, hurley house or any diner dive that allows me to get my caffene fix for only a couple of bucks untill i'm practically swimming in caffeine.....now that's a little bit of heaven.

Did you hear about the Harvard taste tests on coffee? Apparently, they did double-blind tests comparing coffee from the five largest distributors, as well as a make-it-yourself generic brand.
McDonald's coffee beat out Starbucks in taste 4 to 1. Add to this that McDonald's coffee is about one quarter the price of Starbucks coffee...
Not that any of this matters to me. I don't like drinking coffee.

Why else do you think Starbucks needs comercials and new products now? Other people *cough*McDonalds*cough* have better coffee, and it's cheaper. Harvard doesn't have to do a taste test to figure that out.

I don't drink coffee much anyway, but anywhere that they ask for a name (restaurants while waiting for a table, for example) I'll usually use a musician or something of that sort and see if anyone notices.

wow! McDonalds has good coffee? i've never tried it. sounds like it's time for a road trip soon. (now if I can only convince them to let me have free refills, then the world is my oyster....hehehe)
but to answer your question Wraith....... whenever I have to give a name at a restaurant, I just use my nic "Keevan". That way, if I miss the call, at least one of my friends will hear the name they gave me and give me a heads up.
