Alright,I was searching through all my old stuffed animals to make a backpack out of and I stumbled apon my old christmas jingly bear who played 'jingle bells' when you pressed on his paw.He already had a zipper on his back so it seemd he was perfect.
I got straight to work and cut out the wireing that made the song play and his nose light up,I took out the stuffing in the head,middle,and his legs,I kept the stuffing in his arms and sewed em off so the stuffing woulden't come out,I Cut off his hat and scarf aswell.(I atemted to sew off his legs but it woulden't work for me,Tryed the same with his head)
While I was trying to sew off his head,the zipper piece broke off!I tryed very hard to put it back but I coulden't,So I ripped off the zipper pieces. I had to think long and hard about what to do with the back and It donned on me with two options.
#1.I Replace the zipper piece with a new one
OR #2.I sew buttons on his back and cut little button holes,So he closes up by buttons.
If you guys have any idea to help me close him up so he can be a backpack,let me know!Also,If you know where I can find straps to put on him for the backpack part,tell me where I can find them and where I should Put them on the bear.
Ill post Pics Of the little guy as soon as I can!

I vote for the zipper, since it'll be the easiest for you to get in and out of, and that's what the bear had originally had [meaning, it should be mostly already ready for you to insert, so long as you haven't ripped it up too much]. Also, for straps, you just go to a craft store and get rectangle rings, matching sliders and some nylon webbing or grosgrain ribbon.
You can make your straps like so:
This will make them entirely adjustable. If you don't want to make the length adjustable and just want one, simple strap, just take a length of the webbing or ribbon for each shoulder, secure them INSIDE A SEAM and you're done.

For the sake of keeping him tidy and organized, yes. Also, I'd leave the stuffing in his head if I were you, so his face doesn't get deformed or smashed. ^^;
Custom Cosplay's Tutorial is very useful for that part, to be honest. (:
