Did you see "Don't Mess With the Zohan?"

Did you buy a "Scion?"

Did you try "Chocolate Skittles?"

How was "The Alchemyst?"

Did "SPARQ" training work out for you?

Do you have the "Cary Brothers" CD?

Okay, despite all the questions above, my real question is this: Has any of the advertising gimmicks on Gaia worked on any of us 21+ers in real life? Let's face it, Gaia is huge now and considered a psuedo-dominant social networking site, and I give many thanks to the many donators from movie picture companies, candy companies, and whatever companies that have donated for helping make this site better all for a quick bulletin about their product. But has any of it worked?

What things have you bought, done, or tried thanks to advertising on Gaia?

I dunno, maybe also cause I wasn't in the target demographic-- or because disposable income feels like a myth to me. As a teen I bought things like CDs, books, anime stuffages, you know.

Now, when I have three bucks in my pocket I think "hmm, now at last I can replace my toothbrush-- sweeeet!"

Cary Brothers?
Chocolate skittles?
Zohan?
Kung Fu Panda?

I'm sure I'd have not heard of these things if I didn't play on Gaia. Unfortunately I have no interest in such things, so the adverts have been a waste on me.
I still have no idea what SPARQ is.

So where is my disposable income going? My mortgage. eek

i would like to try the Chocolate Skittles, but they are not sold in Germany...
about the rest, well i take a look at the trailer and then i know what will come to cinema in about 2 months, it´s a nice way to keep up with the movies. but i didn´t go to cinema just because i saw the movie at gaia.
by the way what is SPARQ?
i don´t really read the whole announcements.

Speaking of advertising gimmicks...what do we do with all the skittles items (and alike) which are (a) not interesting to equip (b) not able to be sold and (c) not nice enough to give to a friend as a gift.

Does anyone want a skittles beanie?

i tried the chocolate skittles before gaia advertised them. i saw a trailer for don't mess with the zohan before gaia advertised them. i never heard of carey brothers and really don't care. and why would a guy that can't run want sparq? basically, the advertisements on here waste time and inventory space. i can't even GIVE some of this crap away.

I just ate some chocolate skittles, only the package said "M&M's."

Weird....

The Skittles ad did remind me that I like regular Skittles, but I didn't buy any.

The only movie I saw was The Last Mimzy and that was free online so it really doesn't count. I had heard of all the other movies prior to the ads so it wasn't like I was learning anything new there.

As for the books, they are young adult books. The Alchemyst might be my style but I like adult books better. I also get most of my books from the library. If they don't have what I want I order it from another library and wait.

Nike Sparq? I still haven't seen it in a store or on another ad. That could be because I'm not paying attention and I haven't been to a department store aside from Wal*Mart in over a year.

I went and checked out Carey Brothers music and it wasn't bad so I downloaded a couple of songs for free.

Part of the reason these ads don't work on me is because I am an adult with very little disposable income. I don't believe in going to the movies since I pay so much for my cable that I get basically every channel. The movies come to On Demand so fast now that it doesn't make sense not to wait.
Life experience teaches an adult patience, which is something that teens typically lack. Maybe that stuff works better on them. I dunno. It would be interesting to survey the whole site.

The advertising hasn't done much to me except raise my awareness that these things exist, since I don't watch TV or anything. I saw chocolate skittles in the store but didn't buy them because honestly, to me, they sound disgusting. rofl

I could see how it might have more of an effect on little kids, especially if they watch TV. The little ones are a lot more easily influenced than us old kids, I think. hehe

So far nothing they have advertised has interested me, whos to say down the line that something may catch my eye.
now you know what would rock, an ad for the new x-files movie coming out in two weeks, i'd love an item from that quest!

Those chocolate skittle aren't available in Australia either! That's the only thing that Gaia has advertised that has actually caught my attention.

I kind of wish the quest items were spiff-ier. Also they seem so advertising heavy they sometimes miss the mark. The best advertising items (to me) were the fan & umbrella (courtesy of naruto), the final rainbow for skittles, and the ramen.

I wish a few bigger name movies would advertise. I feel like they're all little kid movies and really lame movies. I would have loved to see a Prince Caspian, Dark Knight, or Wall E quest-- but let's face it, those movies don't need Gaia to rake in the dough.

But the one about the playboy bunny and the sorority- yup, it needs every faint hope it can cling to.

oh, and for the record... chocolate skittles are nasty. something about chocolate being chewy just isn't appealing to me.

I've only been around this site for about a month so I've not been around long enough to even see the announcements about all of those listed. However since being here the only once I haven't heard of before Gaia was the skittles. But they look scary so I doubt I'll ever try them.

I will likely read that book that came out eventually, but I'm not sure when.

Tell that to Tootsie Rolls. To be honest, though, I eat far fewer Tootsie Rolls these days than when I was younger, and I never buy them. I think it's like Spam or macaroni and cheese with tuna. It's a nostalgic craving kind of thing.

Now that I've talked about it, though, I don't really see myself craving Tootsie Rolls any time soon.
