I don't think my mama cat is producing enough milk. Her kittens are 17 days old now, and they're growing and developing pretty well, and she feeds them about every 1-3 hours, staying with them for 10-15 minutes at a time. But after she leaves, the kittens will move around and cry for awhile, before settling into sleep. Also, her teats look kind of empty. She's a very small cat.

Anyways, I picked up a small carton of milk replacement, and gave the mom cat about 1.5 tbsp, because I read somewhere it's supposed to help them produce more milk, and keep them healthy, because she seems like she's lost a little weight.

Any other advice? I work 40+ hours a week, so I can't hand feed them all the time, and there's no one else nearby that we know who could.

The kittens are so adorable, though. They all have their eyes open, and are wobbling around their kitten box. They're also starting to play, although poor Milo (who was the first to open his eyes and walk) wants to play more than his siblings do. They're also starting to react to sounds and smells.

We're feeding her Iams kitten food (dry). She had 5 kittens, and I'd say she only weighs about 5lbs. She's eating a lot of food and drinking a lot of water.

I've given her the milk replacement stuff 3 times now, and she does seem like she's feeding the kittens more often, though maybe that's hopeful wishing... She certainly likes the milk replacement stuff.
