So, what does everyone think about the up-and-coming MMO for Gaia?
I'll admit it sounds like it has some cool features, but I'm terrified what it's going to do to the community. The Q&A forum is already flooded with people who don't understand the forum. Imagine the type of people we're going to have taking over Gaia once there is a free online MMO surrounding it! I shudder to imagine the chaos that particular feature is going to unleash.

I'd have to agree. It'll bring good to the site and it might be fun, but then we'll probably have a n00b wave. I probably won't want to even touch the Q&A forum once the MMO is officially launched.

Are you going to sign up for the beta test? I'm still wondering whether or not I want to touch it even with a 2 foot pole. xd Gaia has changed so much over the years, I almost don't know what to make of it any more.

I signed up for beta testing, but I'm not expecting to actually get it. And even if I do, I'm not sure how much time I'd be able to devote to it, what with searching/hopefully getting a new job ASAP and starting to move my girlfriend up here and then move in with her, and setting up the apartment and all. I kinda did it just because it would be fun to get in on the ground level of the game.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the game affecting gaia, but I know it's been something that lots of people have been wanting forever, so it'll be neat to see it become an actuality. I do intend to play the game, but then again I don't want to spend too much time on it sweatdrop (and I'm sure my girlfriend won't let me play it too too much)

I do hope you old gaian sign up and get picked for beta testing. I'd like to beta test with some people I know, rather than the noobs that I'll more than likely be stuck with.

Lol! Okay then, I guess I'll sign myself up for the Beta too. We'll have to let each other know if we end up getting in so we can stumble around and laugh at all the n00bness.
And Nebbie, that sounds awesome! Congrats on the upcoming move-in!
As far as the MMO goes, I'm also a bit worried about the new items that will only be available through the game. I can only imagine what that is going to do to the economy, and what kind of avenues that will open for botters & hackers. I guess we'll only know once it's actually been publicly tested.

8] I can't wait... no time to be a Beta tester... neither do I feel like writing up a decent "job" application for it.
:] I want my finale product... 8] it looks very very awesome, much like Ragnarok Online.

I'm sure that the items that are released will be kinda like the pinball items, expensive at first then very common. I'm more worried about the people who will leak things into the marketplace. I think they might be accepting people that are 14-17, but doesn't that affect the NDA? Because they arn't legally allowed to make their own decisions it could pose some problems with the younger users leaking items and screen caps and other info you're not allowed to share as a beta tester.

Well for that matter, there are adults who would leak information. I am morbidly curious about it, but I am also afraid of what this will mean for the Gaia community. The face of Gaia might change even more dramatically. I am not planning on being a beta tester. My computer has been acting up recently and I don't think that it could handle a beta program.

I signed up to be a Beta tester. (I've never done it before; this might be a good experience.) I haven't been keeping up on the news regarding the MMO, though. So I'm going in as clueless as I was when I downloaded Shadowbane. xD

lilchibiusa Well for that matter, there are adults who would leak information. I am morbidly curious about it, but I am also afraid of what this will mean for the Gaia community. The face of Gaia might change even more dramatically. I am not planning on being a beta tester. My computer has been acting up recently and I don't think that it could handle a beta program. Because the NDA is a legal contract anyone 18+ can lose their account if they are found to be leaking info or whatever they can legally lose their account. But because any legal agreement that is signed by a minor can be nulled by age, means they could get away with leaking and not lose their account. That's why it was such an issue when they began looking for beta testers, and I still think it's an issue if younger users test and abuse the privileges of beta testing.
Gaia has been planning battle since I joined way-y-y-y back in 04, and people have been complaining how it's going to change the face of Gaia. There are always going to be complainers, and people who want Gaia to go back to the old ways. There arn't but two choices as far as the "battle surge of members," either we can accept them, or we can leave Gaia.
I hope everyone whom applied in our group gets picked. Let us know if you get chosen, so we can form our battle groups.

(referring to Shadowbane) Nah, it was an unaffiliated MMO from Ubisoft. :3 It was fun, but kinda unstructured; no story line or anything, just one big free-for-all to conquer the entire map on one of the seven servers. It was always the North Americans (NA) vs. the Chinese (CN), and I couldn't go to any of the big raids that my guild participated in because my computer's graphics card couldn't handle it. (I had an onboard, obsolete nVidia 6-series xD ) The CN were very good at holding their fortresses, though. >.>
