Maybe talk to yor Band director? At King Philip our Bd made a rule the if you played an instrument he wanted you in the band part od the mb and then they were allowed to do winterguard. I'm not sure how it is at your school. I say take a step back and look at both sections. If you think the flutes need help go there and do your best, or if it's the opposite try that ^-^ and in the end it isn't that grand you can always try the other in the next season smile

I'd think you should do which ever is needed more in your band.
If you dont have much guard, march Guard, but if you dont have enough flutes when you play, play Flute.

usually the guard works harder than the band. I do both, and I am in the band.

I say go with guard. You work harder, But i find that you have more fun. Besides, I also find it easier to memorizes a guard rutien then to memorize music. I'm a flute player to, and marched my freshman year. Guard is WAY more fun.
