I think that our section is definitely the most unappreciated part of the band. But without us you have no bass, beat, or rhythm. So Your ******** without us.

Im the only girl and mallet player in my school band...no one takes me seriously sadly in the section, but I play better then a lot of the trumpet players!! -trumpets dont usually sound good until high school-
But what exactly is this thread talking about again? A new guild, or just percussion uniting?

At my school, sadly, the Drumline is appreciated WAAAAY more than the band as a whole. Yes, i love our line, but it makes me sad that the whole band doesn't get the recognition it deserves. (this includes the pit that even within the band, are criticized because they don't march. I heart Pit perc. )

us percussionists would have to be the LEAST respected and supported member of the band. we do a lot! we have to keep tempo, play the right notes, articulations, keep up with the director. and if you mess up everyone knows that it was YOU because our instrument is so obviously picked out >_<.
nobody respects us, as percussionists, at my school they use my instrument as a toy stare they snatch my sticks and start playing it wrong and it makes me so MAD! stressed

yeah, they steal sticks at my school too.
And, some of them don't know they suck at playing either.
They think that everything in percussion is SO easy!
I really want to kill them.
