NOT A DUCK!
So I went to the ER about midnight last night/this morning with all the symptoms of meningitis. They ran some extremely painful tests (if any of you have ever had a spinal tap you know) did some blood work and doped me up on morphine. Oh, they did the spinal tap six times without success before x raying me and finally doing it right. The result? We don't know, but it's not meningitis. Probably a virus of some type. Released! (at the time of this post my temp is 100.5) Here's a scrip for some Motrin that is 3x the normal dose, hope you feel better! *sighs*
They treated me really well, but I kinda think when the bill comes due I shouldn't have to pay it. I knew I was sick but didn't know what with. They really only told me what I already knew. I feel I should pay them for the morphine and charge them for the spinal fluid.

Oh dear!! So do you need to wait on the test results now to find out what it is that's wrong with you? Or is that it, they're done with you now, hope you feel better soon, that kind of thing?
I hope the Motrin (no idea what that is, but some kind of antibiotic I'm guessing?) helps you and that you are on the mend quickly!!!!

I figure when you get better I will make my avatar progressively more cheerful.
A part of me feels bad for making the suggestion that the symptoms could be meningitis. I joked with a coworker that you had the three moms deciding you should go to the hospital. You had the girlfriend mom, the mom of the girlfriend mom, and the actual mom Mom.
I am relieved to know it isn't meningitis though.

Meningitis isn't really something you want to take chances with though, is it! Even if you don't know what it is, at least you know it isn't meningitis!

geez, i agree with you... it's like when i had to get a billion blood tests for a condition i have that STILL 8 years later no one knows why i have it.. the day of the blood tests the nurse kept MISSING MY VEIN with the needle. I still have a mark stare

Nope, that was it. Just stabbed all the way down to the spine a number of times and told what it ain't and given a pat on the back. Motrin is a painkiller and it sometimes helps fevers (though tylenol seems to be the only thing working for this one). My fever is currently 100.8. crying

Tomorrow, I'm coming over. There will be soup. Also, it might help to have someone to dab you with a nice cool washcloth periodically. We'll get you better.

I have to say - never not do a medical test or treatment due to the cost in dollars - it could cost you your life. It's good to hear that it wasn't anything serious and I hope you feel better soon.
I've spent over $5000 on my CATs medical bills. When he sits on my lap and falls asleep purring I know that he is worth every penny.

Thanks guys. I'd like to say I'm doing better, but I'm not. My head feels like my avatar's head. Woke up with a 101 fever and had some strange auditory hallucinations last night. Is no fun.
