So I babysit, and go to college. And if I have to be away from my "children" for longer than two days I become a teary eyed mess if I see a cat in a pet shop or online or anywhere. If it is a picture of a real cat, I end up crying my eyes out. Am I too attached to my cats, or what? Do I need to socialize more, or is anyone else the same way?

I feel the same way when I have to leave mine for any length of time, we take them all over, our eldest had been from The Puget Sound to Portland Maine. They go for camping trips, and two love car rides. Many years ago I was told that cats were an independent creature, however some of mine do not seem that way, they are more like my toddlers. I make sure if I have to leave my cat clan for more than a day or so my sis in law comes & cares for them, she too has cats. But I miss them & call home to talk to them on answering machine. I say things Like BITTY get off the counter!!!! Or Loki you better NOT be in dads chair again.

I don't cry but I do miss my cats very much when I'm away from them. I don't think it's worrisome or abnormal - you're just an emotional person who loves her cats.

I cried every night for a week before moving away from my parents house, because I had to leave my kitty there. ;__; He's my baby and I can't live with him anymore!
So no... I don't think you're strange for crying if you're away from them for too long.

I agree with Anlina, nothing wrong with being emotional and attached. smile
I commute to college, so I never had to leave my baby. I don't know what I'd do if I had to though. I think I'd cry and desperate more about leaving her than leaving my family and moving in to a strange place. neutral

No, nothing wrong with it. But I'd have a big problem if I was that attached to my kitties. Since my parents moved and Duo died they just have farm cats (aka cats that die a lot) and I can't have kitties where I live now.
But I like visiting them and petting them. Baby is still the friendliest cat in the world and if he hadn't of lived his entire life outside I'd steal him when I moved to a place that allowed cats.

i miss my cats a great deal whenever i am away from them, even when i just have to go to work. sometimes i wish i can take them with me to work!
i also don't like being away from home because i have to leave them behind. and i guess because i'm just a homebody in general. i feel awful when i leave for the holidays and leave my cats all by themselves. or even if i put them in a pet hotel.
it's especially bad when i have to take my cats to the vet and i come home to a cat-less house. it feels awful. i guess i am just really attached to my cats. they're my companions, and they depend so much on me.

Currently, I've been away from my two ca ts for about five and a half months now... ;w; I miss them bunches'n'bunches... I've cried a few times because I've missed them, but I've rarely gone more than a week without seeing them or being around a cat (or any other animal) for the amount of time I have. Animals are the creatures that keep me together.
But that's what I get for deciding to go spend that amount of time with by boyfriend in Scotland. xP Besides, I'll be getting back home on the 29th (mixed feelings about that, believe me--happy to go home to my kitties and family, but terribly saddened to have to leave my boyfriend behind).

I cried when I had to leave my 2 loves behind a few weeks ago when I moved out of state. One being my kitty and the other being my bird.
So I think it is wonderful for people to miss their pets so dearly. heart It means they care!

When I went to French camp for a month, I missed my cats more than anything. I was worried that they'd give me the cold shoulder for being gone so long; luckily they're both very forgiving and warmed up to me right away. I still dislike being away from them for long periods of time, and I feel bad when they're all alone for a day.

I go to my Dad's every other weekend, so no, I don't freak out about it. But after too many days I start to yearn for my kittykins... The only time I've ever cried about it was when Cheshire was at the vet for a few days. After losing Copycat to cancer, I always get worried when he goes to the vet. For a whole week I was a nervous wreck and would start crying out of nowhere. School was hard that week... Buuut, at the end of the week he came home. The vet says he's perfectly healthy. He's only lost a few teeth, but then, he's old. ^^ *cuddles him*

i think from now on i will make my family and friends visit me instead of me visiting them, so that i won't be away from my kitties (okay, fine, and i don't want to put up with the hassle of traveling) and so i can show off my kitties razz .
