As I wandered from RP to RP, I noticed that many roleplays just didn't continue as well because most of the roles that were filled were females, but needed males to roleplay.
Now, just to fill my curiosity, I was wondering how many guys are on this particular guild? Answer the poll and/or answer this thread.
Girls, a question for you, why do you think that there is a lack of guys interested in romance guilds like this?

I R male! Har! Though I took a leave of absence... I'm still looking for RPs to play in, and thusly, lurking in the shadows. It's fun to get invited to some RPs though, i usually give those a lot more attention than ones I find casually.
But indeed this can be a big problem for a lot of the RPs that are romantically inclined. I know a lot of girls that will play the boys too, but its just sometimes hard to get excited about that, not many of the other females want to play opposite a masked male character, so they do fizzle.
However, I think the real reason RPs die is lack of interest/time given/enthusiasm.
All in all though, it doesn't give us much opportunity as guys to play as girls... wink

Yeah, true. I mean I'm currently roleplaying THREE different guys. You know I'll suffer from multi-personality disorder later, but i think this is sad the lack of males.

I am female, but I almost always play a male in the RPs I join. :3

But why do you think that males are less likely to show up on these types of guild. I mean are romantic males dead in this day and age?

I love playing as male characters in role plays >3>
I'm not really sure why many guys steer away from romance role plays. Maybe they're too shy, or are embarrassed to join what they consider a 'girly' role play or feel awkward writing about romantic emotions.
Just a couple of thoughts sweatdrop

Well I would say that I was interested in romantic roleplays, but to tell you the truth I'm not. I found out about this guild from another of the members, and sadly enough noticed that unlike most guilds...its active.
That being said I don't think there's anything wrong with romance...just not for me, I tend to steer more toward roleplays steeped in warfare and battle. My imagination tends to enjoy the mechanics of fighting more. I'm trying to give them a chance...just not easy to be enthusiastic about it.
Strange but I don't believe I've played a girl yet...must be due to the abundance of them in this guild, the male spots the only ones ever open sweatdrop

I think romance grows on you over time. When I was a teenager I couldn't have been more down on the whole notion of "true love." It was endearing to think there was someone out there for me but it wasn't exactly the thing I most wanted to be out of life.
When I got older and met my friends and my future husband something struck me: life sucks if you don't have someone to share it with. Not to sound depressing but friends you might have in high school and college will remain a big part of your life... but not like they were when you were in school. People move, get married, have kids, change interests, and lose contact easily and it takes a lot of effort to stay close. Once you are out of the house, out of school, out of the dorms, and done with roomates you will find the whole notion of someone who enjoys sharing in your exploits and will follow you wherever you go so very attractive.
And if you don't believe me... try spending a week alone. No contact with friends or family, buying your own food, going to work at a job you may or may not enjoy, and you'll see how much more dull things are when there is no one to share it with. (I'd rather cut off my arm than try this experiment)
That being said, I think romance is much more interesting with danger involved =)
I have found a lot of girls make boy characters. Not all are good, tho. -.o I prefer (before I know someone) playing our own genders. I think playing another gender, while sounding easy, is hard to do really well.

I are guy. And I've been with this guild for around two years now. To tell you the truth, I enjoy romantic roleplays. I guess that's partly due to me enjoying romantic comedy animes so much. But either way, this guild is the only place that I roleplay now, and it's been that way for about half a year or so. I just enjoy having that aspect of romance in a roleplay.

Some guys are just more into romance than others are. Be it due to how they are raised, exposure or basic interest; some just are and some are not. You'll notice not every girl is into romance either, some people might just like hack, slash, and beat downs more than others.
One of the best things about Koiji is that you can have your hack and slash AND romance ^^
I do agree with Syrenrei about role playing as your sex. People tend to make stereotypical decisions when playing as the opposite sex. B ut it's still interesting to read ^^
Also this same question can be asked about males, females, and sports. There's no definite answer :/

I are male in this guild. Although, to be honest with every one, I have never enjoyed being a guy. Seriously, if I had the opportunity to switch my gender just like that, I would. o=
Oh, and by-the-by, I don't really count for this poll. It is widely believed that I am 70% female. x3
Playing the opposite gender is incredibly difficult. As it has already been stated, the stereotypes - from either side to the other - inhibit one sex to accurately portray the other, due to the simple fact that we are not the other. xD I think if one can successfully play the other gender, he or she has overcome at least one barrier in his or her writing talents. It's definitely not easy, but I'm working on it. <<; :: SecretiveSneakyStuff :: ... :: AndAlliteration ::
And I have a potentially controversial comment for that last bit, Capri. Here's my stance: I believe that, yes, males and females have every right to interchange into whichever sport they choose, be it anything from heavy-contact Rugby to Cheerleading. However, I do know that the way men and women are built - and this is a generality that does cover the vast majority, but not the entirety - enables them to do different things at different levels. For instance, women are naturally more flexible than men for the most part. [Illy = exception here. xD] For this reason, females are adept at things like Cheerleading, Yoga [Illy!], etc. Men are naturally more muscular, and during puberty they [We. -.-] build muscle mass no matter what we do. Built like solid machines, we tend to be more adept at physically taxing things, and have a better capacity for it. Football, Rugby, etc. This can also be related to things like the Army, and how women are not allowed in infantry combat units. It is not to discriminate, but to be logical. In the Green Berets, a daily activity is doing a fast pace trek with eighty-pound packs, carrying a loaded weapon. They cover miles in less than eight minutes that loaded down, and it is mandatory. Now, I know that some women can do that; no objections. But in reality, most women could not. Plus there's that whole "If a woman were taken hostage" thing, which we won't get into.
Basically, to tie it all together and sum it up - [/redundancy] - it all comes down to what the two sexes are physically and emotionally capable of handling. Once again, not to segregate or discriminate, but out of logic.
Wow, long Illy!Rant at nigh four in the morning. xP;

Omg! Where do you live? Has to be somewhere that football = rubgy!! Capri still gets confused in regular conversations where football = soccer.
Anyway
I was actually thinking along those lines Illy, just too lazy to post it after going through all the RPs xD
Capri would make a horrible feminist. Why? Because Capri likes getting her nails done, and being pampered and all that good stuff. Capri's all about working out, getting sweaty and Capri can wrestle with most guys but....she prefer to wear heels ^^
I don't believe in the "What men can do, women can too." (Oh, that rhymes xD) Men and women are built differently. Sure, we can make the attempt at doing the same things as the opposite sex. But the quality would not be the same.
Breaking it down to the fundamentals. Women were built to attract men and spawn. Hence the hips and all that lovely stuff. Men are built to fight dragons and feed us and our spawn. Hence the muscles. Doesn't mean that I woman can't slay dragons; men are just better suited to the task.
Plus guys are usually raised not to show emotions and whatnot that girls are allowed to. I think this might also have a slight impact on guys being involved in romance RPs.
