ok, so after a few weeks of car shopping, and filtering out what i can and can't afford, i've decided i like a few different vehicles. they're all in a similar price range-- maybe $1000 difference, and have roughly the same mileage. your votes will help me decide which vehicle to choose from. feel free to leave a comment telling me why you picked that car.

I voted for "shell out the extra few bucks and get an import". I had a 2000 Sunfire GT which I loved, but it crumpled like paper when I hit a guard rail. That was okay because I got it fixed and it looked good as new, until some idiot backed into over me with his big Dodge truck. As far as I see it, Grand Ams are slightly more upscale Sunfires. If I'd had more money I'd have gotten one of those instead.

It's hard to change to foreign when you grew up loving American muscle cars and all, but the bottom line is that I just have a thing against U.S. cars these days. Too much bureaucracy.

I chose Monte Carlo if you go the American Route. Simply because from the footage you showed me, they appear to mod nicely.

Though if you can go the import route here's my advice. I bought my car from a Rental Company (Enterprise Rent a Car) which sells its cars when they go into retirement. In my experience they sell under the blue book value. They maintain those cars extensively, and they sell them under blue book because it's sheer profit (they make enough money off of renting them out). Downside, they usually have more miles on them than other cars you can hunt down.

But I'm quite content-- it's worth a shot.

My car decides that if you weight more then 100 pounds and sits in the back seat it grinds.

I went with the gold option, not because I don't care, but because I don't know anything about cars, and would hate to think that me randomly picking the wrong option contributed to you getting the wrong one!

Oh yeah. I should add that if you live anywhere like I do, (and you do) then a bicycle just won't cut it. As much as I would like to give up on needing cars it's just not an option when your cities and towns are laid out the way ours are.

I would go with a car that is good with gas with the gas prices up so high. Luckily for me I use public transportation, it takes longer, but it works none the less. Good luck. wink
