Okay, in the Season Premier where it's mostly flashforwards of Hurley, Charlie appears! And Hurley runs, and end back up in mental health. Then, PRESTO! Charlie appears at the mental health place, and a guy says, "That guy is staring at you." If Charlie is really dead, how would he know? I mean, it's all to confusing.
Is he like a freaking zombie?!
It would be awesome if he wasn't dead, and awesome if Claire would find the ring.

He's dead. The character himself confirmed it ("I am dead, but I'm also here...") the actor confirmed it, the producers confirmed it. The fact that the other patient saw him doesn't mean anything; Hurley saw Christain, Eko saw Anna Lucia dead before he knew she was shot, Sawyer saw Kate's horse, etc. However, the producers have confirmed that there will, at some point, be a "zombie season."

Hurley sees Charlie at the mental hospital because that is precisely why he is in there in the first place. He saw Dave before he was on the Island and Dave disappeared because Hurley pushed him out of his mind, so now Hurley is having hallucinations about Charlie.

Hurley can see one ghost at a time. First he was seeing Dave (Libby's husband from what we can tell from the season 2 finale) in the institute while Libby was there. Then he was seeing Dave on the island when Libby was close to him again. Then he saw the cabin (the cabin is probably a ghost since it has no standard location , is surrounded by salt and has invisible people in it). Finally he sees Charlie. Hurley was never crazy. He could just see ghosts xd

My REAL Lightsaber Hurley sees Charlie at the mental hospital because that is precisely why he is in there in the first place. He saw Dave before he was on the Island and Dave disappeared because Hurley pushed him out of his mind, so now Hurley is having hallucinations about Charlie. No, because then the other guy wouldn't have seen him. I like Hurley's idea of them all being dead. They're all in heaven or the...other place...(cue ominous music) That's whty Jack becomes all crazy and why Hurley gets to see his friend. Although I don't remember anything Jack did that was...evil. (cue MORE ominous music) And Hurley tried to lift everyone's spirits, so that's why he's inexplicably good at sports and gets to hang out with his friend even though he's dead. biggrin

...Or, he's appearing just like all the other dead people we've seen. We've seen dead Christain. We've seen dead Boone. We've seen dead Yemi. We've seen dead Ana Lucia. We've seen dead Libby. Now it's dead Charlie. Everything's normal, relatively speaking.

Sonir Am Then he was seeing Dave on the island when Libby was close to him again. Writers confirmed that Dave wasn't Libby's husband, David. And it's also been confirmed that they're not all dead. And evidenced by the fact that they keep dropping like flies. How does something already dead proceed to die again? Dead people are all over in Lost. Whether they're ghosts or visions... I don't think it really matters.
