I totally agree. There are No Point in chavs, and like a t-shirt said that i seen yesterday 'i would rather be dead than a chav'. Hehe which explains it all really...
Good topic, because you can read peoples opinions on the matter. smile

The same could be said about goths.
Just not tracksuits, maybe new rocks etc. Some 'goth' music you don't know what they're saying.
Just because someone doesn't want to be a goth doesn't mean what they like to wear/listen to is bad.

I'm pretty indifferent to them.
The criminal culture surrounding chavs bothers me a lot more than chav fashion. Still, I don't claim any kind of high-ground because of my fashion.

You could just as easily say "Why do people choose to be goth?" though I can imagine choosing to be goth is more concious whereas being a chav is forced upon you.
Others might say people choose to be a chav for protection or to fit in, after all, it's easier to go with the flow than swim against.
A lot of people don't think going about in leather trousers with big black hair is very flattering but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
There are two sides to every story and I've just about used up my 'well-known phrases' quota for the day.

I think I've touched upon chav culture a lot.
I've danced to ragga jungle and drum n' bass with chavs. I went to a jujitsu club that was loaded with chavs and made friends with them.
My only complaint about that whole subculture is its endorsement of violent crime, and even that's not universally true amongst chavs. I prefer my own culture, so long as they don't infringe upon me I'm fine with them.

As for the actual topic... I have no clue what chavs are, so I have no opinion of them.
