Is it a good transition or not? It was offered to me to play it but i wasn't sure if i wanted to. Should i just stick with the flute which i love?

I myself switched from flute to oboe. The fingerings are almost all the same, so it really is one of the easiest switches to make. I say go for it! Who does not want to play an instrument that sounds like a constipated duck?! XD 8D

Idk, I guess you could try it. I play flute, but my dumb a** teacher is a b***h so I'm not even gonna bother. But you totally should. 3nodding

It's one of the easy instrument switches ^^. I switched from flute to oboe when I began high school. BUT BEWARE! Though some of the fingerings may be the same, others are extremely similar, and therefore you might have an urge to play with flute fingerings, which simply will not work. (I kept using fingering for flutes when I started, it got me so confused!)

the hardest part will be get used to the double read. other than that everything is mostly the same. i play a few insterments. i don't recommend it personal because then you are always haveing to chose one insterment or the other. you can't always play both. thats just my advice. just don't stop playing your old insterment if you do swith. trush me on that. wink
