You're welcome. Also, if you're looking to start with staple items, I'd look into Anna House first. They're really inexpensive compared to Japanese brands, and have very nice quality. They also do custom fits and color changes for no extra charge, provided that the size is within their fitting chart's range. XL items cost a bit extra, for example

So is it not possible to get a lolita outfit without shopping online.
Are there stores in USA that sell Lolita and are good quality?

Generally, no. Dream Shoppe does have occasional "parties" where they sell things, but the only physical places in the US where you can get lolita that is of any quality is at a convention, I'm afraid. A few stores here and there carry the occasional Bodyline, K-Star or Westmend pieces, but those are all pretty hit or miss. Westmend is better than the other two, but much harder to find. A few resale shops in Canada have been known to carry lolita, though.

Most of those shops are in California, from what I have heard, although I believe someone mentioned that they'd found Westmend clothing in Austin? Also, you can sometimes find pieces that work for lolita in stores like Forever 21, H&M or the like. They often require a bit of tweaking or heavy accessorizing, however, to look lolita.

Many vendors sell their stuff in the dealer's room at anime cons.

If you want to begin a lolita wardrobe, I might recommend looking into The White Peacock (twpeacock.com). They're kind of low-quality, almost cosplay lolita clothing, rather than true lolita, but if you want something cheap to start off with, try them. They also have had booths in the dealer's room in a few cons I've been to.

NEVER buy from the White Peacock, even for beginner items. You can get other things that are infinitely better for the same cost from companies like Anna House or even Bodyline, since they ship overseas now. TWP is just godawful, even if you're just starting out. >_<;

Yes they are low quality, but you can't get lolita any cheaper. True, the stuff you'd buy anywhere else is much better, but even Anna House is more expensive, even without shipping costs factored in.

I really don't count TWP as "lolita" even in a loose sense. They're like HotTopic when it comes to lolita--easily confused as such for the uninitiated, but when compared to the real thing, absolutely atrocious. Especially for materials.

You'd be better off finding something at Forever21 or Target that has a Victorian style to it and then modifying it, in my opinion. It probably would cost about the same, too.

TWP isn't even LOLITA. You can get a t-shirt with better quality than TWP.

And the money that you spend on it, you might as well swallow it and let it digest in your innards because that's all you're doing when you buy from them.

People like to look nice, not look like s**t as if they want to be the Cheapest dumbass in America. And hell; even the Cheapest Family in America have MUCH nicer clothes than TWP. Why? Because both PRICE and QUALITY matters in EVERYTHING.

Why do you always have to be so aggressive and angry towards people who are inexperienced or new to the fashion? If you wouldn't wear it, don't wear it. If you think it's low quality and not worth the money, there are a lot of calm, rational ways to communicate that without jumping down everyone's throat and telling people they're stupid or trashy for not having the same standards as you or sharing your opinion or taste.

I personally agree with the sentiments on TWP... Mygirlfriend bought a dress there, which (in the hyperctivity of con) was really cute at first. And it was machine washable, a plus! And a staff discount! w00t!

After con, we realized it was a little short, didn't have much room for petticoats, and the bow was off-center.

It depends, really. If you're new to sewing, then it's going to be much harder to make your own outfits than buy them. It's always easier to buy something online than learn to sew, after all. Also, if you're new to lolita, the same applies. Even good seamstresses have messed up lolita garments, because they're so different from mainstream clothing.

In the end, if you know how to sew already and use patterns or tutorials designed for lolita, then the answer is sort of yes. It would be not so much easier to make your own, as easier to wear something that you really love as you can use whatever materials you so desire or are able to get and fit the garments to your own measurements.
