Don't you hate them? Right when you you're playing really well and then SQUEEK! Anyone know how to prevent them?

I guess the only way to prevent it is good embouchure. I never had much of a squeaking problem...but I have squeaked a couple times since I got braces.

om, so, 8th grd band trip , there was this REALLY hott collage kid, n my friend n i had MAJOR crushes on him, and there was a sax solo inthe peice we were practicing, so i was so nervous, trying to impress him, that i squeeked SO much and i could hardly play the peice at all. it was so embaressing...
i think u just hafta b comfortable with the peice and ur instrument (and have a good embecher)

Yup. when I was in eight grade and in high school symphonic band, we were having a Christmas Concert. Right in the middle of Oh Holy Night...it was pretty bad. lol

Terra of the Lilies I guess the only way to prevent it is good embouchure. I never had much of a squeaking problem...but I have squeaked a couple times since I got braces. ya good embrouchure(sp??) and not falling asleep sorry bad experiences lol ya I HATE squeaks

Embouchure is important, but so is your reed. It is easier to squeak on a reed that is too hard. Make sure you have a reed that is easy to play, so that you aren't forcing sound out. I also had some trouble getting used to playing with braces.
