I was thinking of buying a clarinet; I played in the band, and I loved it. So, what's the highest price I should go to for a decent clarinet? D:

It depends on the brand you are look at. I would Recomend a Yamaha, but I have no idea what they run for right now because the prices differ from state to state. I also know of some other brands, but I cannot think of them right now, but I know that if you find one that was made in France, it runs about a $1000 and up because they are top of the line in different brands of Clarinets and I have only seen two of them so far.

I would reccommend (sp?) Armstrong. I got mine, which is an Armstrong, for only $350 and it is a really good clarinet.

Well, if you want a step-up instrument, ask your director if he/she is a woodwind specialist. Or, go to your local music store and ask what brand would be a step-up and would sound really good. You could possibly start a rental thing, where you pay a certain amount of $ each month to pay it off/ rent it.
Or, if you're just looking for a student model and you want to own one, try accent. It's good quality, German, and goes for 650.XD I don't know about cheap, but its worth your $. I have one, and it plays great.
