Okay, so my brother and I were watching the Nodame Live Action (a classical music anime) and he, who plays trombone, noticed that there isn't a trombone character, beyond extras passing in the background.
He pointed out that all the 'cool-type' anime characters in anime (if they happen to play an instrument) either play piano or violin.
Examples: Chiaki Shinichi of Nodame - Violin and Piano
Eyes Rutherford of Spiral - Piano
Len Tsukimori of La Corda DOro - Violin
Sakuya of Kaikan Phrase - Piano
Ikuto Tsukiyomi (aka freaky kitty cosplay boy) of Shugo Chara - violin
Despite trying to find an exception, where the 'cool-type' character plays neither violin nor piano, I was unable to do so.
Discuss: Does anyone know of a cool-type character who plays an instrument besides Piano/Violin (excluding within a band)? What other things have you noticed that are consistent throughout several anime?

The annoying girl that has to give everyone pep talks and is always optimistic and trying to help, who is also the main character but can't do anything worthwhile.
AKA, pretty much Mary-Sues.
But I think it's pretty cool when a main female lead seems like she'll be a mary-sue, but turns out not to be, IE, Ahiru/Duck in Princess Tutu, Sora from Kaleido Star [ sort of for her...] though, that kind of female has also kinda become stereotypical......>_>
Oh, main characters that have some sort of complex about something that happened in their past.

i know it is not an anime ...........yet but the Main Final Fantasy Tactics character Ramaza( i think that is his name)
ff had one or two animes out so it is only a matter of time.
OH another IDEA!

XD aah yes. The overly optimistic main character, as with Sakura of CCS. Yes, it's always interesting when they surprise you by turning out different. rofl Good job with the trauma in the past. I think that trend applies to fanfiction too.
