{Due to a recent notice from a member of the guild, there will be a new rule to comply by for this guild specifically and a good tip for the future about user introductions.
To begin, it is about the personal information that people choose to give. Under NO circumstances should anyone give away certain locations as to where they live, for one thing, and any family business or information considered "too" personal. These are just some general guidelines for writing an introduction or giving information about yourself, but if you need a clearer definition as to what should and should not be posted I'll clarify down below. If you think you know it already, look it over anyways. And another thing, if any of this information is posted, a moderator of this forum will notify you on changing it.
Information regarding location: to begin, it's not the brightest idea to say where you live. Now a general location like a country or a state is fine, but whenever cities and counties are included, things get hairy. It's best to say, in example, that "I live in Florida," or "I'm in a town in Israel." Those are just some examples for what to say whenever you talk about your location. A bad example would be: "Oh, I live in Miami, you too!?" That's where you fall into traps for stalkers and the likes. Unless you personally know the person on the other end of the computer, that can be the worst possible information to give, since you probably also gave your real and full name. It's called a phone book....
Concerning too much information (TMI): Aside from the location information, there are also a few other things to note. Any personal information regarding family or family members should not be said. This just leads to family feuds if they ever find out information posted like that, and at the same time I doubt that they would want information about them posted to the general public. We do not want to know that your brother decided to use the restroom in your bedroom and so he's grounded for it. Interesting info, yes, but necessary, no. Leave it at your house please and not in your introduction >.> One more thing to note about the information you give is that any information that you do give will be used at some point by someone for some reason. Always. Just remember that whenever you want to make a post about something or other, and especially whenever you choose to disclose e-mail addresses and phone numbers. It's best to know a person before you give that to them, or at least, it's best for the general public not to know what those are. If you choose to give your number to one individual, then that's that.}
