my cats smell nice. their fur has a certain scent, and it smells... clean. it's almost like they just came out of the dryer. and for some reason, grumbles (my girl cat) has a distinct floral scent. it's probably because she spends most of her time in my bed, which usually has freshly laundered sheets. and it probably helps that both of them are fixed and they are indoor cats.
my cats have gotten used to me sniffing them every now and then ("oh no! big one's trying to inhale me again!"). am i weird for doing this? is there anybody else who noticed that nice and clean cat scent?

For some reason Amarise always smells like cheetos. We've yet to figure it out.

There's nothing quite like the smell of a freshly groomed cat. It just smells so clean.
I frequently rub my face in my cats' fur and smell them. I don't think it's weird at all - it's like smelling freshly washed laundry or flowers - it's just a pleasant smell.

It makes it sound less weird. ninja But really, the reason cats and laundry smell so good is because they are so clean, so it's a valid comparison.
My mum used to drive Macray crazy by putting her face in her freshly groomed tummy fur, which would then result in a whole new round of grooming, because the fur had been tousled and messed up. She has very long fur and has always been a meticulous groomer.

hee hee, my cats also have to groom themselves after i get my fill sniffing them. i think mitts is trying to save time by grooming me while i sniff him. apparently, he thinks i'm not as well groomed as he is. but that sandpaper tongue... ouch.

xd Violet grooms me every time I put my hand within licking distance (when she's not too worked up to think about grooming.) It's actually rather sweet, though it does get painful at times.

Nah, I smell cats, too. The cats are used to me sticking my face in their fur and just inhaling. Drives my husband nuts, because I'm horribly allergic to them.
Pepper smells like laundry, warm skin, and dust. Timmy smells of anything from dust, to flowers, to really outrageous perfume, since he's always lounging on people who come to visit. Sometimes he smells like onions, which is weird.

I love the smell of a cat that has come in from the snow. The feeling of cold fur is nice too.
But no...it's not weird to sniff your cats at all! I do it all the time!

I don't think its weird to smell a cats fur. I always do it with my kitties. I always love to bury my nose in Beatrix's soft fur <3 She always smells like dust and the outside. It is somewhat calming to the senses.

ah, my fellow cat sniffers! <3 <3
speaking of clean laundry, i sometimes have to rub down mitts with fabric softener because he gets all static-y. so he ends up smelling like fabric softener.
i usually don't have to rub down grumbles with fabric softener. she often stays on tables or on the futon, and she doesn't like being carried, anyway.
yes, sniffing cats sure calms the senses, huh?

roflmao! i just saw the new febreze commercial. it starts out with these people sniffing something in the air that they don't like. then there was a shot of a guy sitting on an armchair. he smells something, so he grabs his big, blue cat and buries his nose into it instead. the cat meowed in protest.
hee hee. kitty sniffers are now on tv! <3
