MANGA RECOMMENDATIONS

Hello, and welcome to the thread! If you're either desperately seeking for a manga to enjoy or would like to help others to find ones they may like, then you're in the right thread.

If you'd like some recommendations, please use the following format:

Looking for Anything Specific?
Favorite Genres:
Least Favorite Genres:
Favorite Anime:
Least Favorite Anime:
Preferred Language Format: (Raw Japanese, Subbed, Dubbed)
Anything Else:

If you'd like to make a recommendation, please use the following format:

I Suggest: (Title)
Because:
Summary of Series: (Please, no huge spoilers.)
Languages Available: (Please write if there are raw Japanese, fan-translations, or releases in English-speaking countries available, unless, of course, someone requests another language.)
Anything Else:

I hope the codes don't bother anyone. This way, things are more organized, and instead of randomly suggesting things, people comprehend why things are being recommended, and people seeking recommendations state exactly what they seek and don't seek. (:

Looking for Anything Specific? yes, something action-y, I don't have enough in my collection and i've found it to be overrun by shoujo o_O;;;; I don't want anything either that focusses TOO much on the fighting aspect.

Favorite Genres: It depends really all on the series. I'll watch or read any genre, it just depends on the series itself.

Least Favorite Genres: Uhmmm...Hopelessly romantic shoujo IE - Ai Yori Aoshi, Rumbling Hearts, etc. also, anything remotely gay. [unless it doesn't start to play a huge factor, I can take it if it is only hinted]

Favorite Anime: Tenchi Muyo!, Princess Tutu, and Eureka seveN [ see, all from different genres xDDD; ]

Least Favorite Anime: FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST, LOVELESS AND DEATH NOTE. They make me throw up. Eww eww and ewww. stare

Preferred Language Format: (Raw Japanese, Subbed, Dubbed) Dubbed.

Anything Else:
It might be helpful to know my collection of what i've already read and own-
*Some of these I haven't finished, but I'm definitely going to, I just want a breath of fresh air right now, you know?

Rurouni Kenshin
Black Cat
Spiral
Matantei Loki Ragnarok [ what came out in english :/]
In Dream World
Galaxy Angel
Juvenille Oiron [ i never got past volume 1, but i'd like to]
Love*Com
Crescent Moon
Full Metal Panic!
The All New Tenchi Muyo!
No Need for Tenchi!
Eureka seveN
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Gundam Wing: Episode 0
Bleach
Alice 19th
Imadoki!
Absolute Boyfriend
Magical x Miracle
Vampire Knight
Millenium Snow
Full Moon Wo Sagashite
Dream Saga
Angelic Layer
Chobits
X/1999
Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles [ didnt like it, dropped after one volume]
Gravitation [ EW]
Loveless [ EWWWW]
Card Captor Sakura
Amazing Agent Luna
Fruits Basket [...its ok...]
DN Angel
Rozen Maiden
.hack//Legend Of the Twilight
To Heart

I decided to list all in case someone wanted to suggest something else other than a shounen-ish manga. I'm always open to new suggestions ^^. And I probably forgot some, just listed what I could remember >_>;;;

I Suggest: MAR
Because: if you like a bit of action it's good, it also has a fairly good - if cliched - story line, and is funny as well.
Summary of Series: Ginta gets transported to different world, one in which he's not the geeky, weakling he was at home. Not long into his adventures, he uncovers a legendary arm- rare magical weapons - known only as babbo.
Languages Available: it's in english. . .
Anything Else: it's good! =D

I read the first couple of volumes and frankly, I didn't really like it. ;_;x I'm sorry. I mean, I respect the fact that you like it and everything... but I think it has no originality. Like... He reminds me of what the "perfect anime" would be. What any otaku would wish to have... but I think it's sort of like Superman. So perfect, so amazing... it's a little boring. D:

haha, right on target. I have to agree with you, my reasons for liking it are the same for why I still read children's books. They're light, and enjoyable. Well, Mar's not SO light, but. . .It's nice sometimes to read something without a complicated plot full of twists and turns being shoved down my throat, you know what I mean?

haha, I actually loled. His name's jack - and I really don't like him. Ginta's alright, and Babbo's just funny sometimes. My favorite character is Alviss - also another stereotype, but whatever. he's awesome. X3

I Suggest: Monster. =]
Because: its amazing?
Summary of Series:When a Doctor makes the highly controversial decision to save a boy's life over the mayor's, it leads to the loss of almost everything he holds dear. His fiance, his career, his social standing. The only thing he keeps is his own feeling of self worth, knowing that he did the right thing in saving the boy, who came in first. Yet even that is threatened when he begins to learn that nothing is as it originally appeared. A trail of bloodshed pointing to the seemingly innocent child leaves him questioning even his beliefs. Whether, in the end, all lives are ever truly equal.
Languages Available:english speaking countries... being released by viz.
Anything Else: mmmm just give it a try... =]

I Suggest: Please Save My Earth
Because: It's got romance, other planets, a giant cat who sometimes wears sunglasses, some crazy psychic action scenes, and Tamura - the manliest man ever to walk the planet.
Summary of Series: All I can really say about it is that it centers around characters who have dreams that are memories from past lives . . . much else would give it away. It gets a bit complicated, but so worth it.
Languages Available: I found translations of it online, but I don't know if it is translated in book form. There is a short series that comes after this one, which is by no means necessary for a satisfactory ending, but it has never been translated - though it's still nice even just looking at the pictures if you can be told the basic story line.
Anything Else: There are a few anime episodes, really they're an OVA, and they are pretty much the first bit of the story told in the manga. I watched these first and then HAD to read the rest.

I Suggest: .hack//[insert the name here] (Ex: .hack//GIFT, .hack//SIGN,...)
Because: I see you've watched .hack//Legend of the Twilight so... umh..
Summary of Series: O-o I cant summarize them all, cant I?
Languages Available: I prefer subbed anime, so I watched the subbed ones, but I think there is the dubbed ones somewhere on the Internet.
Anything Else: O-o Umh... Hope you'll enjoy them.
