i think one option would be to make a ball/circle for the main body then sew little triangles on the sides for wings and another small one for the beak.... you could make it all black then just stitch a white circle of felt or something onto the belly and the head could be abother ball... and little feet stitckes onto the bottom... i'm not sure how you want it to look but you could allways modifiy a teddy bear pattern.
