Just thinking about it. It might only be my band, or maybe because we are small. but we do many strange things.

For one, one time we showed up to practice at six in the morning, and there was a shopping cart in the middle of the field. . .

2. We do a stretch called the "frank" and the entire band can recite what it does from memory. Example: " It reduces the viscosity of the fluid in your joints!! "

3. The brass make human pyramids.

4. Flutes give a wake up call by playing the highest note they know. [[ we have early morning practices before class. ]]

5. The entire band skips practice and goes to breakfast instead. . .

6. Become a temporary marching chorus as we sing our parts while attempting to put the music and marching together.

7. Make up crazy nicknames like Sunless One, and Come From Far.

8. Have crazy sock day.

9. Name instruments.

10. Forward Pelvic Thrusts, at random points throughout practice.

Also, for a story. One time we all found it really interesting, our theme this year was Flashback. As we did a run through of the show, on hte third song, [ Aquarius/Let the sun shine in. ]The sun came up at the exact moment we played let the sun shine in. We had to stop the run through so everyone could turn around and watch the sunrise. >.<

Not sure if anyone else did this.. but.. <.<

Went to an actual camp this year for the first time in 47 years.

Had to wake up at 6, be out on the field at 7. Don't eat till 9. ._.

Our guard is crazy flexible. While one of our directors were "working with" (*cough*yelling*cough*) at the brass on Side 2, the woodwinds and guard on Side 1 were totally bored. So one of the guard girls was practicing her splits, and then one of the piccolos tried to do them too. Ohmygod. Hilarious.

Not to mention all the guys in our marching band are totally gay for each other. ;]

I think it's a band thing for the guys to be gay for each other. . . the band is always way to comfortable with their sexuality.

Also, i doubt anyone gets the voting thing. I don't either. It's a trombonist - trombonist gone drum major thing. the band knows what to call out after ah senor, but i don't really get why. . . . so yeah, in case you were wondering.

We play Halo. All of our instruments are designated as a certain weapon, and we all try and go for a "triple kill."

We[the trumpets] also use our trumpets to have light saber fights.

And these two kids[they're brothers] are always tackling each other.

Our band is really violent. stare

My band does a lot of those things.

The guys love running over and jumping on their friends' backs when we're not working.

We have this weird thing we started this year where everyone lays down and puts their head on someone else's stomach. It's quite amusing to watch, really. And if one person laughs, the people with their head on their stomach start laughing too (it becomes a chain reaction).

We sing our parts on occasion...my favorite was when the guy trumpet soloist sang his in a high falsetto. Although the flutes always amuse me too.

We had some interesting days back in band camp. Someone told a bunch of people to wear green shirts one day, old marching shirts the next day, and tiaras on one day...we had a clarinet freshman guy come wearing a fluffy pink tiara. Good times.

And of course we have our pinkie sex tradition before games and our "hookers" (if you're really curious, I explained these in the Pregame Rituals thread here).

I'm the section leader of the baritone group at my school. Well they wanted to do a late night practice, I was cool with. So at 5 pm I drive up, and no bartiones could be seen. I had the right to make them run laps and play all the minior scales. (Note: Our feild is surrouned by woods) I was aggervated and then all of a sudden I was tackled from behind. I was bound and gagged and carried into the woods. My section had made a camp fire and placed me down in front of it. They unbound me and begain my hazeing as a section leader. I'm a senior so they told me this was the death of a section leader hazeing. I freaked a little. But it was all good. We had marshmellows and smores.

1. BALANCE DISKS-enough said
2. one-layer run-through. at the end of every practice, we usually have ten layers of clothing on when it's really cold, so for the last run-through of the night, we strip down to one-layer=)
3. right before every show, my bus (bus 5 aka party bus) does a singing run-through of the show, everyone sings their part, loudly=)
4. ACTIVATE YOUR TBA!(abdomen muscles)
5. learning the other instrument parts on your instrument, and other ones>_>

WE have an electronic metronome, and it has a german ladies voice saying, "1, 2, 3, 4" and everyone laughs. Our band teacher calls her Sylvia.

There was a car parked in our marching black top, and we all picked it up and moved it out of the way.

Our other band teacher says, "Bad Band." whenever we are acting bad. He means it like bad dog, so the mellies (im in there) and the tubas start to whimper.
