Why is it that we don't realise how much we want something until it's gone??
Why do we put ourselves through unnecessary pain??
It's as if we want to make ourselves miserable.
We throw away what is important to us, and then we decide that we want it back.
It makes no sense to me.
Or maybe it's just me who makes myself so down??
Have you ever done it to yourself??
Why do you think something has to be gone before we know that we want it??
Can we not just make a decision when the opportunity is available instead of waiting until it's too late, and then your decision doesn't matter anyway, because what you have lost will never be found??
grrrr, it's so annoying.

because we always tend to take advantage of what we have. once we have whatever it is that we want for a while, it becomes 'ordinary' and we stop being grateful for having it. we never really stop to think about the fact that *nothing* in this world is permanent, so we dont fully appreciate what we have until we no longer have it, no matter what it is.
we put ourselves thru unnecessary pain because we are all completely self-absorbed. we dwell on the bad feelings instead of trying to see thru them and see them for what they really are.. a transitory process caused by our ego (for it is only the ego that gets emotionally hurt). by clinging to our feelings we cause more pain to ourselves than necessary. so yeah, in a sense it is you that makes yourself more miserable than need be. we all (including me much of the time) need to learn to let go. it's another symptom of not accepting the FACT that
nothing is permanent.
and yes, I've done it to myself as well (everyone has), tho I'm working on correcting this bad habit. it can be done with patience and compassion, but it's terribly hard.
