I recently found out about an organization that will mummify you and your pet upon request. They've been mentioned on National Geographic and CBC news.

Check it out.
Summum

I personally plan on getting mummified, and placed in the mummiform.

"The current costs for Mummification services are $67,000 within the continental United States."

Nope, don't think I will. xd

Interesting, isn't it? They don't exactly hold true to Egyptian religious concepts- they're more of a New Agey/Alchemist/Trancendence-ish sort of organization. They make these elixirs which they refer to as "Nectar Publications" because they say that the wines have certain energetic messages transcribed into them, and they use them as meditational aids. They seem to have their own religion built up around this, though I don't know enough about it to say much.

It's an interesting idea, though- here's link to their Nectar Publications page.

Personally, I doubt that I'd ever be mummified- I'm far too vain for that, lol. Even in ancient Egypt, bodies were not always mummified- and there were times when statues of the deceased took over the role that the mummy might play. So I think I'd rather have a nice, flattering statue of myself errected somewhere. blaugh Or at least a small one placed in my grave or a shrine.

Awesome! Sign me up!!!
Oh, wait...that's crazy expensive. gonk I suppose I'll still have to write that triple-platinum hit song... xp

In all seriousness...probably not. Funerals are expensive already and the way they're presenting it just strikes me as weird. Don't ask me to explain, I just get a strange feeling about it.

Although my friends would get a kick out of me getting mummified...("Crazy to the last, that Nevira...so obsessed she turned into a mummy when she died. And she's got two lightsabers crossed over her chest.") rofl

I better get my book published and start writing more stories!!

It sounds cool to be mummified but then again ... is it a step too far? It takes 90 days to do and it costs more than an arm and a leg! Hmmmm, I'll see if I'm still facinated in Egypt when I'm old.

Maybe you can give them the option of taking your limbs during mummification as their payment. xd

That would feel funny in the afterlife!!! I'll meet my favourite Pharaohs and Queens with a missing leg .... tee hee.

Call me an old grouch, but this just seems like another new age jump on the magick bandwagon trap. Wait a good 50 years, see if it's still in vogue then.
