Um, Hello, I wrote a story for my friend's birthday which is in a few days. I'd like for it to be the best it can be, so if you read this please leave a comment on how I can improve it. Thank you.

A Wayward Birthday
Sunday, the Twentieth of November

"Alex... Alex!" A young dark haired male shouted as he calmly stepped out into the courtyard, or at least as calmly as he could considering what had occurred just a few moments ago. It was the princess's birthday in a few days and an announcement had been made during breakfast of the fact. Alex had been sitting next to him as she usually did since he knew better than to take his eyes off of his most 'interesting' of knights in the royal guard. Unfortunately the moment it was announced that they were given the day of to find gifts for the princess, well, Alex was gone before he could even turn to look at her. Which was pretty bad seeing as said girl usually wound up wandering off and getting in trouble for leaving the property and in some cases taking Izlanzadi along with her.
Islanzadi was the princess to be honest and so said events were rare and annoying as well as stressful. Alex's excuse for these 'field trips' which could probably be more accurately described as kidnaping was that Miss Islanzadi would probably have a hard time ruling an area she had never seen in person. That and the place was one of the dullest places on the planet. He gave a sigh as he remembered the exact moment she pointed these things out as he tried to think over what he was going to do with the younger girl.

"Alex!" he repeated as he stepped under one of the largest trees and looked up. It was to be honest on the larger trees in the courtyard and he didn't doubt that if one were to climb to the top they could literally see the whole kingdom. Though he did not have to look that far as half way up on one of the sturdier of branches laid a young girl. "Alex! Hey, I know you're up there and that you are very much awake. So, get down here now!" A small sigh came from the young brunette as she rolled over and looked at him, just barely managing to balance. She stared for a moment before sitting up and yawning.

"'Morning Keegan." She stated with a small smile as she looked down to the older male. This of course earned her a sigh in response.

"Get down here, Alex." He repeated, looking at her as though she were completely off her rocker, which she probably was. She gave a short visible nod to this, and then quickly jumped from the branch, landing with a small thud before looking up to a confused Keegan. "Did you have to...?" he finally questioned after a short moment of awkward silence. She smiled to this and nodded.

"So, did you get your gift for Islanzadi yet?" she questioned while standing up and patting the dirt off of her clothing.

"It's Lady Islanzadi to people like us, Alex and No, I did not. I've been looking for you for the past-" he paused at this and looked to the sky as though trying to figure out the time from the sun. Unfortunately the trees in the area really seemed to want to get in his way so all he basically saw was leaves. "Um... two hours I think..."

"Hm... why Lady Islanzadi, we see her everyday right? So it's not like she’s a stranger..." Alex started, crossing her arms across her chest as she tried to think over what he was saying. "It took you two hours, hm..." He let out yet another sigh as he recognized the look that appeared on her face. He knew her too well to think any good of the look of mischief that was forming on her face. "Alright, I already know what I'm getting her so... I'm going to stay here."

"Alright." Keegan started with a quick nod before he realized what the small girl had said. Of course the moment it did register his reaction was a rather humorous mixture between a double take and a complete jaw drop. "Wait, you mean you actually want to stay at the palace?!" He questioned. Not understanding why she of all people would not take advantage of the opportunity to leave the castle without sneaking around. Then again, knowing her she probably thought the sneaking around to be the best part. Unfortunately he didn't quite get the response he was hoping for as Alex had quickly doubled over in laughter at this own reaction.

"Hehehe... of course, Is it that strange?" she questioned a naive look on her face that almost reminded him of what a child would look like when asking what a curse word meant. He looked at her for a moment and she looked back. "Better yet, don't answer that question." He nodded. She smiled at this, quietly scratching the back of her head as she thought of what to say. "Um... well. I'm Going to head inside then, See you.” She stated before turning around and running inside, leaving Keegan standing there in complete confusion.

Wednesday, the Twenty Forth of November, 4:30 AM

'So, this is what the inside of her room looks like...' Alex though with a quite smile on her face as she admired the room she had managed to enter after at least thirty minutes of sneaking about. Annoying as it had been, she was beginning to feel rather happy that she had chosen to wake up so early to start on her present. One she had carefully planned out for the last three days. Two and halve days to be honest if one were to consider the amount of time she spent sleeping and her conversation with the annoying man she called Mr. Keegan.

'Lets see... what's first...' she pondered, not daring to speak as she already knew of her friends acute hearing and doubted an elf could read minds while their own mind was in dream land. With a slight thud she took off the back pack she had been carrying and took out a civilian dress and a couple of hair scruncies as well as a hat. She herself was in civilian clothes, which basically made her look like a boy if you were to look at her without past knowledge of who she was. She smiled at the clothes she brought, rather happy at her handy work in sneaking them in, then folded them up and headed over to the bed, eagerly holding them to her chest.

"Good morning, Alex. May I ask why you are here so early?" An older looking girl asked as she sat up in her bed. This was of course, Islanzadi herself.

"Good morning." Alex grinned as she continued to walk, completely unaffected by the fact that the other girl was wide awake. "I'm here for your birthday of course. As a part of your present that. Here you go." She smiled and handed the dress to Islanzadi. The older girl, unfortunately, did not quite get the point Alex was trying to convey and looked at her as though she thought something was wrong.

"Hm... What? Is my fashion sense that far off?" Alex questioned as she looked at the blonde girl, a bit confused. "This is what they wear in town right?" The other girl nodded and the smile returned to Alex's face. "Good, for a moment I thought I got it wrong. Well, don't just stare at it. Put it on so we can get to the next part of your gift." Islanzadi nodded quietly as though deciding to go along with the plans of the supposedly insane brunette. She quietly stepped out of her bed and headed to the bathroom, looking back to Alex with every few steps before locking the door behind her.

"That went well."

Wednesday, the Twenty Forth of November, 6:30 AM

"Alex…?"

"Yes?" Alex responded in her usual happy go lucky voice or at least her usual when Islanzadi was around. She always seemed to be in some sort of a good mood when the princess was around.

"If you do not mind me asking, where are we?" The princess questioned as she moved her head around in attempt to find the other girl who was happily dragging her along some path of some sort. Though the effort was rather useless with the blindfold the other had put on her. Yes, she was blindfolded. Right after she had managed to get into the strange clothing Alex had brought to her room and sat still through the girl toying with her precious hair and shoving a hat over it. Said other girl snuck up on her, covered her mouth and blindfolded her.

"On our way to where your present is." She replied in a sing song voice that reminded Islanzadi of a child who had just made a macaroni painting on a priceless vase and thought it to be a Picasso.

"If I am correct in my assumptions, you are leading me to town again, are you not?" She questioned, not wanting to try wandering into the mind of her overly enthusiastic captor. To be honest, she had been there before and while it wasn't anything special, it definitely led her to question her young guard's sanity.

"Perhaps." Alex replied after a short pause, as though she were thinking of the best way to put what she was thinking without revealing too much. An awkward silence seemed to follow this as the two continued to walk. Or to be more precise as Alex continued to drag Islanzadi along. They stopped at least one hour after they began or so Islanzadi thought when Alex suddenly stopped dragging her.

"Now lets see… lets see… where did I put the door to this thing?" Alex whispered to her self, sending the young princess' mind into a bit of a race of confusion. What was this girl planning? Did she go and build some sort of house or something in the middle of no where? Didn't she know she could get in trouble if it happened to be on someone else's property? "Oh, here you are." Alex started again as she picked something up that sounded rather earthish and then dropped it with the tiniest of thuds.

"Alright, come on." The younger girl continued as she took Islanzadi's wrist again and led her down what seemed to be a set of stairs. "Alright sit down here." She pointed out, helping Islanzadi as she ran off to do something. "You can take off your blindfold if you like now." Islanzadi gave a nod and did so. What she saw without it, managed to amaze her. Alex had managed to dig out an underground room and had furnished it as well. Sure, the furniture itself was not as good as she was used to but to be honest, well she had never expected her laziest of guards to do this much for anyone.

"So, what do ya think?" The younger brunette questioned as she walked over to the young princess.

"You did all this by yourself?" She questioned, earning a slightly confused look from Alex who was now standing right in front of her and staring. She glanced to one side for a moment, then to another as though desperately attempting to grasp for an excuse from the air around her. From her current train of thought, which Islanzadi had attempted to find in the mess of other thoughts, she had actually gotten help from someone else though she wasn't sure who and she had apparently been working on the room for quite some time. Only she had been planning to show it off at a different time. This pretty much explained the fact that the furniture had been organized in a way that made it look like she had been in a rush to get it done.

"Well, do you like it?" Alex finally asked, a bit of impatience in her voice which made Islanzadi laugh a slight bit. Alex was always off acting in a rather childish way. Said childishness was always strong in her to be honest. It showed in both her speech and in her mannerisms. It was part of the reason quite a few people in the kingdom questioned the two girls' friendship. Alex was known for her childish and open nature. She was always speaking her mind and acting up in a childish almost naïve way, as most of the time she was wandering off in order to see things in the world she had never seen before. And she would usually drag along Islanzadi herself for just that purpose.

The princess on the other hand, Islanzadi was both calm and serene. She was honest and she had a quiet voice. She tended to think things through to a more thorough degree than many thought Alex to be capable of and almost all of her decisions were good. Of course, this also meant if she hated some one she said so and her words could be rather biting in said situations. Though, as different as they were, they got along like sisters.

"Yes, but if you do not mind me asking-"

"I made this to be our secret base." Alex explained, with a smile answering the other girl’s question before she even finished it. "I made it so you would have a place to go if you ever needed a place to spend time on your own outside of the castle." Islanzadi looked at her for a moment. Trying to figure out how Alex thought she would be able to leave the palace and get so far without getting caught… unless…

"Alex, When we were walking you were not leading me through the forest, were you?" the princess stated, earning yet another confused look from the young guard. "You just led me around in random circles to confuse me. We are actually to the right of the southern tower, am I correct? Yes, we are right outside of the barrier as well as rather close to my own room." Alex gulped than let out a small sigh.

"Is it that obvious…?" She questioned only to get a nod from the other girl.

"Well, it is a very lovely place Alex, thank you." Islandzadi smiled as she stood up, "Though I would like to know why you brought these outfits if you had no intention of going into town."

"Uh, well to be honest, I just wanted to try different clothes." She pointed out with an awkward grin. "Uwah… either way… we should head back before Keegan finds out…" Islanzadi gave a nod to this, remember the last time Alex snuck her away. Keegan was yelling at her for a while which sort of made her feel bad for both of them. Keegan with all the stress he got from being head of the royal guard and Alex who, while all her actions were rather mischievous, had very good intentions and a kind heart. "Ok, let's go." Alex pointed out, grabbing her wrist and leading her to the stairs. "Upstairs... upstairs…"

"Alex, try to at least act a slight bit calmer than usual." Islanzadi stated as she laughed at her friends little song. The other smiled in return and opened the door, tossing the dirt carpet aside and popping her head out into the sun light. She then headed up and proceeded to help the other girl up.

"Alright, lets go before-" Alex started, stopping right on the word when she saw Keegan standing right in front of her, looking rather upset. "Oh... hehe... Good morning."
