I wish I could be love,
Then I could be
All over the world.
Then I could be
All over the world.
Hello Hello~ Jarvin here.
Well, from the title you might think, "Marching band pledge? Whaaaat?"
Yes, I'm talking about a pledge like you'd take in boyscouts, only for marching though. Here is what one of the seniors has come up with so far. I'll strike through stuff that I don't think would be for all bands around here. xd Some of this stuff is just pertaining to our band.
I hereby pledge to keep the traditions of marching band passed down through the years alive and stick true to the motto “What happens at Band Camp stays at Band Camp”. I pledge to concentrate fully during practice, know my music and my drill sets, and to constantly work on perfecting proper marching technique and posture. I pledge to subdivide not only from the beginning of practice to the end of practice but in my sleep, and to stay in step even if the tempo is bordering unreasonable. I pledge to respect my director, instructors, drum major, and section leader, even if they are hard on me, because whatever they do it’s to make the band better as a whole. I pledge to follow all of the rules and protocols required, and leave any negative attitudes off the field to further the wellbeing of the entire group.
I pledge to play with good tone quality and dynamics, focus on musical balance with the rest of my band, and play to the Press Box. I pledge to dress to the form and not to my dot, dead-step like an A Corp Blue Devil, and bring enough water to rehearsal. I pledge to practice like the judges are watching, observe uniform etiquette in the minutest details, and put forth 110% of my efforts the entire year. And finally I pledge to take whatever challenge given to me and rise to the occasion bringing all I have to overcome it, and to learn all of the words to the Bohemian Rhapsody.
Please help me edit what's here so far. Don't count the striked out stuff either. Also, if you want to, add some content, or take some away. But when you do so, please explain to me why.
I'll remember to love,
You taught me how.
You taught me how.
