My father just brought( I hope thats the correct word) the Vanity Fair DVD. I was wondering if anyone knows if it's any good at all? It was set in the 19th century so....yeah.....*laughs*.....*feels like a idiot*
Also, my father isn't gay. His girlfriend made him get it.

Maybe this should be in the non-lolita chat area since it's not really about lolita at all? Quoting from Wikipedia: "Vanity Fair: A Novel without a Hero is a novel by William Makepeace Thackeray that satirizes society in early 19th-century England."
More or less, it's about a young woman during the early 19th century who leaves her home at a school for girls in an attempt to climb the social ladder. The story more or less makes fun of women's need to improve their rank through marriage. There are a lot of mistakes and slip-ups, strange love triangles, bankruptcy, disinheritances, death during war, suspected murder by poison, and generally just a lot of stepping on people to get higher up.
I am not, however, sure how closely the movies follow the plot of the book [because it's quite long and involved]. I imagine there's probably not quite as much backstabbing and tragedy to come to the end of the story.
