I find a lot of goths are interested in BDSM (bondage/discipline/sadism/masochism). I fall into that stereotype myself which is what got me wondering why. Maybe it's because it's a darker form of sexuality and we're darker people to begin with--er--people with darker interests, rather.
So what about you? Are you into it? Why/why not?

Actually, I've found that mainly people who are of the somewhat gothic culture, are just more open about it.
Many people are into a "darker side of sexuality" than you would believe. They will just not discuss it out in the open, for they fear that people wont understand and will be disgusted.
People have extremely dark minds, you just have to get them to open up.

gothism is about nonconforming- not fitting in. sex falls into that. there for, we arent "scared" by these alteranative means. yep. i find it... semi-entertaining. i like the extremes.

I thought the goth thing was an appreciation of the darker aspects of life, be it in the form of music, literature, fashion or film. Not about who is the most non-conforming.

Goth is primarily about two things- music, and being yourself. If dressing in mainstream fashion is what you like, that's fine. Being yourself is more important within the goth community. 3) "there for, we arent "scared" by these alteranative means" As said, goth is united by music and common ideals of self-determination. Not all goths like BDSM, and I know a lot of goths who are scared to hell and back of it.

Yeah I've done certain aspects of B&D but never gone as all-out as I wanted to (due in part to the comfort level of my partner and also due in part to the fact that I never have the house to myself when my partner comes over). But I have a new gf so we'll see how that goes... wink

I couldn't see it as something I would do personally. I am open to my sexuality, but right now it's just something I wouldn't do, maybe when I get into a decent relationship and a trusting partner.

I'm a very extreme sadist but I hate the typical concepts of bondage and discipline. I'm down to hurt somebody really bad but not with a whip and definitely not when that somebody is wearing a gag ball or assorted pieces of leather constructed in the ridiculously ornate fashion that most BDSM gear/fashion is.
The master-slave thing bothers me too. I love to dominate in bed (and in life XD) but I don't want an obedient slave or pet or whatever.
Seriously, give me a piece of rope and my bare hands and I'll have a good time.

I agree with you entirely, most people who are into BDSM but lead otherwise "normal" lives would be scared of the shock of and the judgement they would experience at the handsof others, whereas people who are in some way part of the gothic culture are generally unafraid/not bothered by the reactions of other people and indeed sometimes set out to do something specifically because it shocks.
