Black silk flowers can go a long way to goth out a room, too. Some craft stores carry them year-long, and you can find them virtually anywhere during the Halloween season. Get a bunch and put them in a vase with some darkly colored glass stones and ribbon or some dark faux moss - they can really set the tone of a room, and are not a fire hazard, unlike dried flowers. Glass potion bottles (again, found at a craft store) filled with dark liquids can add a nice touch too. Seal the corks with glue or wax though to prevent spillage.

Ooh...these are some great ideas, I think I'm gonna go look for black silk flowers now!

I personally find dried roses to be classier than silk flowers. You do have to replace them every few years (as the stems turn yellow over time), but they're very pretty!

My only tip is, if you use real dried roses, don't just sit them in a vase to dry. They'll wilt, and won't look very nice. However, if you tie them together and hang them upside down until they're stiff and pretty well dried, then they'll look lovely! ^_^

I disagree. I think dried flowers and silk flowers are equally classy. My issue with dried flowers is that they tend to attract insects and are a bit of a fire hazard.
But you are quite right about drying them upside down - if you just leave them in a vase they'll dry bent and might even rot instead of drying.

Well, I looked, and I actually couldn't find black silk flowers, so I bought some pretty purple ones instead. ^_^

Purple? Oh that sounds lovely! And it will go nicely with the bedding you've found... ^_^
Another thing you can try with silk flowers is spray painting them to alter the color...I did a light coating of silver over black for my bridesmaids bouquets, to give them a bit of shimmer...or you can do several coats for something really dramatic. 3nodding

I've never had any problems with bugs, and I have quite a dew dried flowers in my room, and usually have quite a few bunches of herbs strung up to dry as well. It is true that they're a fire hazard, but so are things such as books and papers. You just have to watch where you're putting your candles and incense sticks.

Actually, they do go quiet nicely with my bedding ^_^ The dark purple one is the same color as my comforter, and the lighter flowers are the same color as my sheets.

And geez, I don't know where you people come up with these things...but I never would've thought to paint the flowers! Wow, I wouldn't mind if you kept coming up with these great ideas! I love them, you're very creative!

I had a pretty sick summer dorm at a summer program I did at a college. I had a black comforter with cherries all over it and red and black stripes on the other side. It was a little punky, but I loved it. Of course I had my jack skellington pillow and gothic ragdoll.

Get some gargoyal book stands and perhaps a nice victorian lamp.
I think potterybarn has some nice alternative comforters. Also check out Delias and Urban outfitters. They are sure to have some interesting stuff. I know delias does.

Indian printed sheets tend to be inexpensive and can be really beautiful and gothy. Also, I remember that when I went to college, I got a really nice black and red satin comforter from K-mart. Gothy stuff shows up in the strangest places, so it's worth it to look through Wal-mart and K-mart for black or burgundy sheets.
