Hello fellow Gaian's. My original account name is Lady Kabuki and my join date is June 26, 2003. I have stayed strong on Gaia for nearly four years now, even having one of the few quests for Every Gaian Item. I've brought countless people to Gaia, donated large amounts of gold monthly for the donation items, and that's what they are DONATION ITEMS!
I've seen every layout that the moderators have thrown at us, Every change, Every update. Hell, I remember when Gaia was nothing but a message board with kewl avatars. When the map was no bigger then Barton Town, Isle De Gambino, and the two maps in between. When the Gaia Personals were still open, up, and running..
I even saw the launch of the first Gaia Donation Item, the Halo. I was around when they came out, when unless you donated and got one you didn't know what the ******** they were and were constantly looking in the hat store trying to get one.
Recently there have been a lot of changed, updates, and other such things that have come out that I personally am ashamed of, to say I'm a GaiaOnline member. I used to be PROUD to be a member of Gaia. Proud to say I had been around on Gaia since 03. To say my Gaia Join number was 18000 something.. That used to give me a sense of pride, a general good feeling.
Now I'm simply annoyed, bordering on pissed.
-First the User Owned banks were banned.
-Then they remove the ONE update that was worth anything, the navigation bar.
-Gaia Battle systems were originally showed to be using our weapon items.. and now they use rings?! WTF.
-The developers are just changing things, without posting polls or asking users.
-Gaia has become about money, with all the advertising and banner bullshit.
-Half the features aren't compatible with anything but Internet Explorer.. And most of the world doesn't even USE I.E. anymore.
GAIA NEEDS TO CHANGE IT'S ATTITUDE, BUT FAST!

I use to feel so old, thank you for helping me with that X3
I was here too when there was nothing but forums and maps and one avatar. when donations were always given and it was easy
I really think they need polls too, i really miss my little navigation bar too
I had a lady (something) name too X3
but I completely agree

Yeah. I've only had this account for around a year. But I was on another account since early 2004. And I have to agree that there have been changes that have made me really sad. D:
I doubt I'll abandon it anytime soon (Though, I did for a period of 5 or 6 months a while back), but there are so many things I wish had stayed how they were.

For the good old days when Gaia was still small. I joined in either 05 or 04, I forget. Way beck when the map had a purpose and everthing was actually cool, when Gaia had little storylines that meant nothing but free stuff for all, when the marketplace was reasonable, when fishing was cool, when the only way to get things was to gamble like hell because cards didn't make it too easy
I agree, Gaia went stupid and banned my original account because of a new member who joined around.....a month earlier or so saying MY FRIEND, not me, scammed him in a lotto, which he didn't, and thus, I get banned, along with a good chunk of others, because they WERE IN THE LOTTO!, not because they made it. WTF

I'm only going to say I'm running one of the Gaian User-Ran Bank Art Charities and I'm helping counting the signatures in the large-user-ran bank petition. I also have the RBG's username on my aima nd I talk to her frequently, one of Gaia's longest standing user-ran banks.
So. Your Captain is busy.

Yeah... >_< I think when I came they had still had the personals. Oh well, some things don't get better with age. :/ Too bad Gaia isn't a bottle of wine. I'm kinda annoyed by all the pointless crap they've added; Although, some of it is amusing. And it seems like all the "events" now are just blatant adversting. neutral

I totally see what you're saying but the admins are just trying to keep things dynamic and interesting for everyone. If they just left Gaia as it was for a long period of time then people would get bored and leave. Changing layouts and having events keeps people pleased. And as for the banners, ads, and hooking up with other companies it's a necessity to Gaia's survival. Gaia was so cool everyone wanted to join, which leads to a growing population and usage, which leads to more money being needed to keep the site running.
I can't say I agree with and enjoy everything the creators do with Gaia but it could be a whole lot worse.
