Do you ever get sick and tired of all the damn begging that goes on an Gaia? I rarely post in the regular forums. I post a reply in the GCD once and I get a pm begging me for gold. Why?! They're wearing just as many MCs as I am, why pick me to beg gold off of. Sell something you're wearing loser! Rar!

Anyway, what do you think of Gaia's culture of begging?

In related news, there was a story a while back about a woman who was willing to trade sex in order to get a super rare item on World of War Craft. Do you think that virtual money/items are really worth so much?

I'll agree that it's annoying when everyone beg's for gold but that is why I only post in the guilds that I'm a member of. It's not that hard to earn gold on gaia, you just have you be patient and spend a little bit of time on gaia each day to gain the things that you want.

As to your second question, I don't think that virtual money/items are really worth that much. Though apparently someone does, but in all honesty it's just a game that your suppose to have fun with NOT trade for real life and treat yourself like nothing to gain something that really isn't worth it.

WoW has all the crazy stories. Kids in sweatshops leveling up characters to sell, the guy who died from dehydration cause he couldn't stop playing, and now this crazy lady selling her body for cash.

*shakes head*

People are socializing and interacting more and more through sites like Gaia and WoW, so it only stands to reason that things associated to those sites become more valuable. I guess it has a lot to do with how much the game means to you. =/

I suppose I have to agree with LadyNox, I mean that does make perfect sense. It' s just a little odd...But then again to be obsessed with anime and Japan, according to other people, is odd. So then I suppose there is but there isn't anything wrong with it....It's a yes no sort of thing.

I'd have to say no, it isn't really worth selling your body over. It's virtual reality, not reality. And yes, some people are overly obsessive about it, but in ten years from now, they should ask themselves if they'll still be playing it, or if it will still even be there.

I mean yea, there are certain things that I want that I don't have near enough gold to get, but I'm not going to sit there and beg and use things in reality to get what I want in the virtual one. I don't think anyone should be that desperate for something that reality wise doesn't exist.

meow

i don't think that many things on the site are worth anything in reality but sometimes certain ppl think that non-reality is accutual reality and get over obsessed with it......

i wouldn't sell my body for a gaia item..... i might sell something else but not my body and yes begging gets annoying but i don't bother to reply...

die by suicide

There was a case in Japan a while back when some guy murdered a friend that he had let borrow a very expensive virtual sword. The friend sold it, so the guy killed him.

Concerns have also been raised about people using games like Second Life, where real money is converted into virtual cash, to launder money.

I like online and all, but I'm not sure I like where the virtual culture is headed.
