There must be a new arrangement floating around that I haven't heard about.
Carmina Burana, by Carl Orff.
My Conservatory mates and I have tried sneaking the word to our Symphonie Director and the Shenandoah Singers Director that we wouldn't mind doing Carmina Burana at all for a joint performance, but they never seem to listen to us. *sigh* And we're talking the real deal, here. No watered down arrangements.

We played it as a marching band arrangement this past season. And believe me, O Fortuna gets really friggin annoying after the 273 time you've heard it played by out of tune cold clarinets and trumpets...

Our 3rd/4th band is playing it for the next concert on Feb 12. There are parts that can get really tiresome, but for the most part, it's a decent piece.

Yeah, we're playing it for our spring concert. It's cool and all, but after "Music for a Darkened Theater," the tuba part's kinda boring.

My band did play Carmina Burana, I just never got to pay it in concert because the others had been practicing all year long and I'd only just entered the top band. Still I ABSOLUTELY loved the few times I played it even if I couldn't get all the notes right. :[
It was GREEEAAAT. heart I voted #1 on the poll cause I didn't read down. sweatdrop But it is a very last-poll-option worthy song. heart

We got the marching version to play as a stand tune. We use it to open our basketball games. (really, it just gives us a legitimate reason to drag the gong into the stands)
When we played it for our halftime, we managed to get three gongs out onto the feild. It was epic.

Ashuri Niko-ru We sight read Carmina and Burana the other day. It sounds amazing!!! We are doing it for our marching show this year. we did it my freshman year and it was BY FAR the best show we've played in the past 5 years.
