I've pretty much read every thread in the guild. And while I'm learning a lot of japanese I didn't know. I know for a fact that I'm not pronouncing alot of things right
and yea i read the thread posted way back with the lessons with pronounciation. The links aren't working on my computer
So I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good website or cd or tape collection i could go to or buy that is accurate.
arigato thanks

I've been told that I have a pretty good Japanese accent, but I just follow intonations I hear in anime, replicating almost in the same way one might do music. sweatdrop You could download yourself a couple episodes in Japanese and have fun with that. xd
As for direct pronounciation for certain words, that can be difficult. sweatdrop I remember 1koza wrote a post about how "masu" is usually (or with exception) heard as "ma-ss", and "desu" as "dess"... "shi" is often reducted to just "shh".
An extra sound often calls for lengthening the word in that part. Words like "sayounara" have that extra "u" next to "yo", so you can accentuate on "you". The same usually applies for other words, like "tabemashou" [let's eat]. Another word, "jiyuu" [freedom], also has that extra "u", so it sounds like "jiYUU".

Like she said, just watch subtitled anime(bonus if it has japanese too) or just listen to japanese music and try singing along. When you sound as similar as you think your gonna get, try reading some japanese out and test your accent. Its the easiest way and can take very little time to get used to 3nodding

one thing that helped me learn how to pronounce is listening to japanese music (ie 1000 no kotoba wa - koda kumi ffx-2) and reading the lyrics to it so you can hear and see how its pronounced. sweatdrop the song i mentioned for those who dont know is a semi slow song so its easier to see where the words begin and end.

one thing that you probably already know is that "u"'s are silent. So "desu" sounds like "dess". Sorry if you already knew that, I was confused about it at first
