One of my favorite deities has to be Anubis. He has been the one I could name since young childhood even when my knowledge lacked SO much. Being the God of Judgment and Death, I seem attracted to his role in Egyptian life.

I've always had a connection to and fascination of Isis. My best friend the first time she saw me automatically nicknamed me Isis in 7th and I nicknamed her Nephthys. We're like twins. And I tease if she ever puts her paws on my husband, she'll be the one cut up, not my husband. Then again, we look different, she's a redhead and I'm a blonde, lol.

As a child, about 5 or 6, I had this natural fascination of Cleopatra VII and she considered herself the new Isis. So that made me love each one even more. There was a time I was convinced I was going to name my daughter Cleopatra Isis, my mom wanted to kill me for making such a 'horrid' name.

It's kind of funny, I listen to Isis better than my own given name and my friend believes I have a spiritual connection to her because I remind her so much of her with my caring maternal instinct and using my abilities to help and heal. Plus my intrigue with healing magic and how I have drawn the spiritual watchfulness and protection of the animals around me. She also likes to remind me of my past lives (which I don't remember, we haven't gotten that far in my learning) and she laughs because most of them have to do with Egypt, lol. Now I wonder why my elementary school art teacher found me so eager to learn about Egypt, lol.

Mine's Het-Hert (aka Hathor). I have a great connection to Her and feel like it makes sense to have Her in my life. What what I've understood She also was more of the "everyman's chick" (most of Her followers were Middle Class women) which is something I find endearing.

Personally, I have seen some evidence for an alternate version of the tale where Stkh really is Inpw's father! And I admit that I do prefer this to the other... I suspect that with this change in the story, their relationship would also very much improve. Check out the red hair in the photo to the right- you can really see the family resemblence!

Ya know... I always thought that Set and Yinepu looked like each other...with the long snout and all.. Its kind of ironic... i mean how did Set find out?

Prepare for a long post!
Well, I love everyone in my RPD line-up!
Heru-wer (Horus the elder) is my Father god. He's a sky diety who smites isfet. He's married to none other than:
Hethert-Sekhmet (Hathor) my mother goddess. I've loved her for so long because She is the goddess of art, music, mothers, women...etc. Though She would later be assimilated by aset when Isis became prominant, She is so warm and joyful.
Set (Seth) naturally became one of my beloveds because His brother Heru-wer is my papa. However, I love Him all the same. He's NOT evil like some make Him out to be. He HAD to kill Wesir (Osiris) for there to be an afterlife. Set procides over storms and necissary change. Unfortunatly, that change is sometimes violent and painful. He also helps Ra kill Apep everyday in order to insure Creation still exists.
Ptah-Sokar-Wesir has to be one of the most confusining and abstract gods ever. He is both Creation and Destruction all in one.
Aset (Isis) I hae loved since I became intersted in Ancient Kemet. She's not the sweet loving Mother Goddess of all....She's the mother of Heru-sa-Aset and wife of Wesir, yes, but She's not like Isis. As a matter of fact, She has more of a tough love approach. So all who like that aspect: wrong goddess. Thats not to say that She isn't nice. She;s WONDERFUL. Just don't confuse Her with Hethert!
Lastly was a big surprise for me: Heru-sa-Aset (Horus). I think everyone knows His story. I love Him because He reminds me of someone in my family. biggrin
