watashi wa nihongo ga sukoshi hanasemasu demo mada jouzu ja arimasen!
わたし は にほんご が すこし はなせます でも まだ じょうず じゃ ありません
[I can speak a little Japanese but I'm not very good yet!]

Nani sore?! What is that?! ( I use this everday especially when people mess up like cutting me off in traffic) You can use this in regular conversation of course. However, Sore, nan desu ka is much more polite.

miru>>mimasu>>mite (me tay) etc..

I say mite to my mom all the time. She doenst know what I am saying though. Mite is please look. Long form: Mite kudasai~ Please look.

Also, if you want someone to show you something: Misete (please let me see/please show me [polite]) Sore misete~ Please show that to me. My elementary kids said this ALL the time. I'd bring a ball with the American flag on it and the class busts out in chaos, " Koza-sensei, MISETE!!!!"

man, i love Japan....

oh my gosh~ I havent been to this thread in a while.

Hara heta (very informal)~ Im starving!

Onaka ga suite imasu (formal)~ Im hungry.

*For any of you who may be in college and/or graduating soon I so suggest the Japan Exchange Teaching (JET) Program. Google it. It is the program I went over to Japan on. Its one of the highest paid teacher jobs and you are well taken care of. I taught in preschool, elementary and Junior high school. I was also asked to do a community eikai wa (englsih conversation) class. If you love children and have a passion for Japan consider this job. It pays close to $2,800 (USD) a month.

*I think I will make this a thread of its own in the future...

if you want an accurate trsaltion, it'd be kakoii in place of suge *slang for sugoi, which is amazing* And I'm suprised someone would know the slang term for Sugoi

Zokugo Nihongo wa wakatte?
(you understand slang Japanese? *i hope i said that right...*)
