Just a little topic about the appreciation of egyptian art. Here you can talk about pretty much anything alongs the lines of art from the Ancient times. Did you like it? what was your favorite style, which types of reliefs in carvings did you like, what did you think of the paintings, colors used, etc.

Oh, the art! Well I love it! -Actually I try to draw pictures of things I see in books about Egypt into my sketch book.- Course they never look really good, but oh well. But as for my favorite reliefs? Hmmmm...I think I preferr the low reliefs myself. To me it seems that they wouldn't be damaged so quickly.. 3nodding

I have two things on papyrus: The goddess Hathor crowning Ramses Queen Nefertari, and another with Amun, and a king... *not sure who the king is though*

I went to the Eternal Egypt exhibit when it came through my area a few years back, and we saw the original papyrus of Ani. They had a couple of sections including the Weighing of the Heart, and it was astounding to see it in person! The whole thing looked like it had been colored in with glitter gel pens, heh. And it seemed like a large selection of the papyri or statues on display there had glittery elements- that led to a lot of joking in my group about the ancient Egyptian origin of glitter, and possible applications of glitter paints and sprays in ancient art.^_^ An egyptologist I know recently told me that was because they'd mixed gold dust and mica into the inks- it really was glitterized!
