So, as a student bobbin lace maker, I'd like to talk to anyone else who is trying to learn/has learned this art. So, speak up, folks... is anyone else here a lacemaker?

Nope, sorry... I'd probably just end up with a tangled ball of string. I've barely learned to do some simple crochet, and I barely have the patience for that. smile

Sigh, I don't know of anyone personally, but, I do know there are lacemakers in the Society, but, I don't know where.

ShadowDruid Sigh, I don't know of anyone personally, but, I do know there are lacemakers in the Society, but, I don't know where. Well, the Laurel who's teaching me can, I'm sure, introduce me to some. Just wondering if there were any Gaians on the list.

I really wanted to learn lace-making when I was younger, but I never had the opportunity... I'm still planning on takling it up someday, if I can!

JewelsSparkle I really wanted to learn lace-making when I was younger, but I never had the opportunity... I'm still planning on takling it up someday, if I can! It's not too too hard... just takes patience, practice, and manual dexterity. And the ability to follow a pattern.

How long doe sit take to complete? Thank you! The bottom piece is 11 inches long, it's the biggest piece. They don't take too long... about 10 minutes or so an inch if I have my rhythm up and it isn't too complicated (except for one of the ones with the picots... that is the little loopy bits... at the edge, I was feeling a bit off that day which might account for it). I can finish a piece in a day if I'm sitting down working on it for a few hours.

biggrin Do you have a place online where you have patterns etc? I'm looking for a decent tutorial (The bottom piece looks just like the pattern I need for a netted caul that I'm attempting.)
Looks fun though. And you do good work. biggrin

What kingdom are you in?

If so they can probably connect you with a teacher.
