A parlour-type room, the room was wallpapered in a rich gold, celedon, and cream curliques, lit with gas lamps, their tongues of blue flame licking the glass that they were housed in. In the centre of the room was a grand piano, the ebony and ivory keys yearning to be played.
The floor was carpeted in matching hues with the walls, and some additional spots of rose and cream, the pattern of vibrant flowers repeated throughout the room.
There are large windows facing the west, the view of fields beyond the hills of England. These are dressed with lace curtains. A working fireplace with a large mantle painted cream is opposite of these.
Also in the room are comfortable couches and chairs lining the walls, photos and portraits of the headmasters of the past forty years above.
Male students may use this room to gather with friends, study, play the piano, drink tea, or hold club/organisation meetings. Prior permission may have to be obtained to insure that the room is kept open for said meetings. Castle history has stated that this room is the most haunted, with as many as three ghosts in the room at once.

There was such a general coming and going of young men at the dormitory that Lucian found it difficult to get to the common room; the disorder of it all had only increased since Lucian had arrived. The hallway connected to the common room was so crowded that Lucian doubted attempting to move down it would be a very good idea. He opted, in stead, to wait in the common room until things calmed down enough to move. Lucian took a seat on the West wall facing the hallway.
It was all a rather cozy affair --well, extra-intimidating administrator excluded, of course --and things would certainly get a little more orderly when everyone had settled. Certainly, there was little order to things with few people settled. After a length of observation, Lucian was unable to liken the bustle of students in the hallway to any sort of order. In one instance, one boy goes into the hall, another taps a key or two on the piano as he passes by, and yet another two come out of the hall. In another instance, a boy might vacate the hall, followed by two entering, and no one playing the piano. Things did not seem to be slowing down at all.

At length, things did slow down. There were fewer comings and goings, and the whole business seemed to have settled into an odd sort of order. Lucian had observed no one enter or exit his room, so his roommate had, presumably, not shown up yet. There was one curious event among the grand spectacle of students moving in; one student --obviously from a very, very wealthy family --had several large men carry an extravagant quantity of luggage into a room that Lucian knew to be already half-occupied. The men --and the student, himself --were all similarly dressed and had an air of authority about them. When the hallway was clear of the larger portion of students, Lucian decided it apropos to return to his room. It didn't seem, after all, that much could be learned from idling in the common room.
