I'm not sure if Laurell K Hamilton has written more than Nightseer, Merry Gentry and Anita Blake... But if so.

I just wanted to make a thread almost specifically upon Nightseer.

I'm only a little way into it, just to give fair warning, but it definetly seems very interesting thus far.

Has anyone else read it? And, if so, what did they think of it?

I need to get my hands on a copy. I'm not entirely sure what it's about and I guess that's the reason I haven't bothered with it yet.

As for other things Laurell has written. I think there's only short stories mostly for magazines (that I also wish I had my hands on) and a few part of other series. There's Nightshade (part of a Star Trek series) and Death of A Darklord for Ravenloft. She did write something for an Anthology called Superheroes but I'm not sure if it's something original or just a snippet from another series.

I read Nightseer only after I finished the AB series up until Burnt Offerings, and the Gentry series, so it surprised me that it was written in third person. I enjoyed it, especially the character of Lothor.

Ack...it's been so long since I read it...how can I carry on an intelligent discussion about it when I can only remember half of the book?

I thought it was a very good story, but the ending nearly killed me. It was such a loose end! I want to know what happens next! crying

I wanted to know what happened next too!! It's been a while since I read it, but I remember thinking 'Why aren't there more books in this universe?' It was good ^^. I think maybe not as well written as her later books, but really, that's to be expected. Everyone has to start somewhere!

I have the book, but I am so caught up in the other two series, reading and re-reading them, that I haven't taken the time to read it yet. But what I have heard makes me want to take the time to read it.

*Spoilers*
Well, she got married...and that was pretty much the end sweatdrop

There are a lot of loose ends left untied in Nightseer that were probably intended for subsequent books.

I enjoyed the book well enough, but as compared to her more recent work the writing isn't very good and there were several plot points that were simply worded so awkwardly I wasn't entierly sure what was happening(I seem to remember this happening in the Tower when she has her vision).

Lothor was my favorite character 3nodding

I know LKH has done a few short stories(I have a copy of Sword & Sorceress vol.whatever where she has a story), but I'm not sure there's too much else. I read in an interview that she doesn't really like to write short fiction and all of her novels are in print domokun

I loved Nightseer, I'd love to see her re-write and re-release the novel and then continue it into a series. I loved Lothor! He had so much potential as a character. Kelios did too, but she's just not as cool as Lothor. I also liked Belor, I want to know what happens to him damnit! Maybe if we all barrage her with e-mails demanding more books out of Nightseer we'll get it ne? wink

After 12 Anita Blake books and nearly 4 Merry Gentry novels... Can you imagine how a rewrite and potential sequels to Nightseer will turn out?
I wouldn't mind knowing what she intended to happen at the time, but I don't think she should go back to it now.

I still want to know though, where was the ending?! There was no real ending. No closure. It's obvious it was meant to be the first book in the series but... *shrugs* Are there any fanfics out there that have guessed the ending?
