This is Major Tom Kuroi Kokoro no Mendori lil_ninja_58 If they didn't want us to read the books before we bought them, they would seal them up in a clear wrapping. I've noticed that some bookstores do that with Special Edition copies of a specific magazine, or magazines not appropriate for youth. When they do that, it is clear they are trying to send the message: "Sorry.. But if you want it, you have to buy it." That's a very good point. If the bookstore doesn't want us to read it, seal it up! Even the rudest people aren't going to take the seal off, because they might be seen and then they'd have to (horror of horrors!) BUY the book. =O Completely not true. Lots of yaoi titles come in plastic wrap. And guess what? People unwrap them! People don't give a s**t about making porn available to kids. They'd rather just get their kicks and leave, regardless of the fact that this stuff is now available for anyone who happens to pick it up. They do that with both yaoi and hentai-ish titles that have been shrink wrapped for content. People don't care.
All depends on the place.

It bothers me a bit when someone's sitting there by the isle and they are all streched out with their legs straight out. But, I don't get too bothered by it because the manga section is along the wall and not actually on an isle at my local bookstore. And what's making me love the store more and more is the manga section continually grows! ^_^ [/offtopic]

All depends on the place. All depends on the PEOPLE. Yeah, our bookstore carries a few titles that get plastic wrapping, and some people unwrap it anyway... I'll just buy anything as it is, so I just sort of look at the cover, say "Hey, pretty boys, yaoi series, plastic wrap... sounds like a party" and buy it ^_^;;;

I sit on the tables if i read if i sit on the floor its leaning on the end part of it looking outward not blocking nobody with 1 book in my hands im so compact people just pass by razz

(nods) Our bookstore has a coffee shop you're meant to take their books to and read at... not to mention a reading nook and about 100 confy chairs

lurkindarkness (nods) Yeah, I agree. Normally in my bookstore, the aisles are aleady thin enough that it is fairly hard for one TO lie on the floor, but people have done it. Normally, I don't buy a manga unless I have already seen the anime or have read the manga from the library/a friend. When I DO skim a manga, normally I just open to random pages to see if I like the art style and read a couple of word bubbles to see if the grammar/spelling is all good... I do the same thing. 3nodding But at my bookstore a lot of the people aren't considerate and just plop down in the middle of the aisle. I've even experienced a time when a person was leaning against a shelf that had a book from the series I wanted, and when I politely asked him to move over for a minute so I could grab the desired book, he sneered at me and flipped me off! scream But then I kind of accidentally stepped on his hand when I was trying to get to my book. Oops. twisted And at my bookstore, you have to buy your purchases before you can go to the cafe. So I usually buy what I want , and then go to the cafe, and read what I bought with a nice steaming cup of coffee. I have nothing against people who sample a book before purchasing it, I just wish more of them would sit on the chairs that were provided! gonk

I usually find a chair to sit and read. Usually the first few volumes before I decide to purchase the book. SOMETIMES if all the chairs are taken (hence for being the busy day), I would find a corner or wall (with no books), and sit there. As long as I dont' get into anyone's way. I usually go with a friend to do that. I usually don't go to bookstores alone. Not that it's dangerous or anything. It's just much more fun when you're with a friend and commenting on the story and artwork.

in Canada, we ban people or kick them out if they stay longer than 10 minutes in the library's alleys.(while reading books)

I agree! however...I do the same thing, but I usually sit on my heels infront of the shelf, so tha I don't trip anyone...and if they are looking around the books/manga near me, I move out of the way for them.
