Shri LaughingStar has recently become acquainted with the saying: 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes'.

In this instance, it is not so much related to a festival or faire, as one may expect. Rather it is a sort of logic or philosophy she needs to apply to her own life. The Angeni mare is at times reckless, less aware of her own mortality or limitations that one might hope. In this instance, she'd gotten the idea into her head and run with it... without allowing time for cooler thoughts to prevail, or running it by an outside entity to see if her planning -or rather, impulses- were sound. Tearing off into adventure (read: danger) had seemed far more tempting, and so of course that is what she had done.

It was a rather simple thing to set a trap or two, to bait a Shifter into following her and allowing them to stumble into said traps in the hopes that it would keep them captive long enough to apply a charm. Where the strategy seemed to have broken down was her target turned out to be a clever, wiley, graceful cat type... rather than say a lumbering, slow, more limited creature like a bear or something similar. The flexibility the cat had exhibited had been enough that it escaped the trap uncharmed and took a swipe at Shri to send the message with blood. No lessons were learned like those through pain, and the mare was left with a scratch that smarted something fierce, a bruised ego, and the realization that a different plan was needed. Or perhaps different prey. Or both?

"This would be easier with a partner in crime," Shri mused as she left the unicorns that had healed her even as they lectured. "And maybe a few extra charms, just in case."

Doing her best to use her time wisely, Shri LaughingStar has taken up a somewhat peculiar personal project. Rather than just idle away the hours beneath the stunning trees or meandering through the fields or exploring the mountains, the purple and gold mare has decided to do more with her time. In the effort to make the Soquili lands a safer place, Shri has begun experimenting with her inherent abilities as an Angeni as well as more specific talents as the Angeni of Bells. Outside of learning how to create her own illusory boundaries that can be used as a warning for approaching danger, she has been working out ways to redirect, detain, and charm Shifters. The hope, at least, was that a Charmed Shifter was a slightly less dangerous one.

Regrettably, it was perhaps too early to tell just yet. Thus, the experiments -while off to a promising start- needed to continue. More charms needed to be made, more Shifters needed to be caught and charmed, and if possible more parties willing to observe them in an attempt to track and compare their behavior patterns. Hopefully a promising pattern would emerge.

There is something to be said for the scientific process... For starting with a hypothesis and some solid options in the form of variables, and then applying some rigorous testing. Each of her little experiments taught her something, which was always valuable. Sometimes the lessons were hard learned, painful or dangerous or both... Sometimes it was just new information gained. What traps did or did not work. What terrain offered her or they the advantage. What Shifters were easiest caught.

That there were so many bird varieties to the Shifters was both starting and inconvenient. How could she hope to catch the Hawks and the Owls?

"Maybe if someone made me a net?" She mused, eyeing the drape of vines with a considering narrowing of her eyes. "A net might work..."
