Jin was so stunned that he barely felt the flower pot hit his head. The dirt fell around his shoulders and Marumaru brushed away at it, letting it fall to the ground. "You heard that too right? There's no way thats a normal cat." He sniffed at the air, it sure smelled like a normal cat. His confusion quickly turned to determination as he set his jaw and gave a wolf-like grin. He formed a quick set of hand seals, "Bunshin no Jutsu!" A second Jin appeared in a cloud of smoke. "We can still outnumber it if skill isn't going to cut it, c'mon! We can't end up being known as the guys who failed their first mission!" Jin rushed after the cat as both him and Marumaru's body turned to lightning, "Lightning Step!" Both of them followed shortly by the clone.
While Chikato was not stricken by a falling pot, the still ninja did have one fall before his feet as the dirt brushed off of Jin by Marumaru was dusted toward the red head’s face. Not that he even noticed, as he was still too stunned by what happened with the cat the two were pursuing. “I’m starting to think this thing might not just be a normal cat…” He said mindlessly. There were a couple reasons why a cat could talk, but none of them made sense for a little girl to have. Even one who was nearly seven feet tall and of the Oni tribe. Chikato was thrusted out of his stupor, however, when Jin’s clone took form. As the two rushed ahead, his hands clasped together in front of his chest to form some hand seals. “I got an idea!” He said quickly as he formed the signs. Once he handed on the rooster seal his body glowed in a warm light which manifested into a pair of angelic wings. Chikato then used the wings to soar into the air as he watched Jin and his clone make a thunder step on the cat. As soon as the cat would have to use its graceful movement to dodge him, it should then allow the cadet to swoop down and grapple the cat. Indeed, Chikato waited for that prime moment before he descended down with his right hand extended. “Here Kitty Kitty!” He chimed playfully in his attempt to grab the cat once and for all.
Jin flew through the air at a speed that he wasn't used to yet nearly crashing into a nearby wall, but his eyes were squarely locked onto the probably-not-a-cat. Seeing Chikato take to the sky and trusting his friend to finish the job Jin would do everything he could to create the opening Chikato needed. With three bodies at his disposal he would leave the cat only one way to escape, he started by sending his clone to flank from the left side of the street. Marumaru ran beside him, waiting for the right moment before letting out and aggressive "Bark!" and leaping toward the cat at a blinding speed! Mr . Sparklepants further proved his agility as he dodged with an appropriate amount of cat-like grace. It was here that the clone jumped into the fray but was only a secondary distraction for the true attack, as with Jins enhanced speed he got in front of the chase and was ready for the cats dodge to decide his strike. "Sō Nōdo: Rai Nodo." Jin rushed forward at a blinding speed, not expecting to hit his target but hopefully to give his friend the moment he is aiming for.
Jin's coordinated assault to corner the nimble cat were met with more close-calls than Mister Sparkelpants was comfortable with. As he dashed along the rooftop a flash of lightning closed in on him from the real Jin just after Marumaru and the clone had been evaded. Sparklepants caught glimpse of the other purrsuant with the glowing wings and decided to play their little game- WITH A TWIST! The kitty appeared to be razzled and frazzled, and acrobatically jumped off a nearby rooftop access door to evade Jin's thunder stepping. This landed him in the air, right in the path of Chikato's incoming grubby, opposable-thumbed hands. Chikato would notice an almost confident smirk as he made the catch. As soon as the capture was made, however, the cat exploded into a dense cloud of glitter and confetti that would cake the flying cadet's entire front side, revealing a stuffed cat doll in his hands instead. "Nyahahah! You thought you had me, eh, BUT it is I who has you! They do not call me SIR SPARKLEPANTS for no reason!" While Chikato would be rearing from the kitty glitter bomb substitution, Mister Sparklepants was hiding in the small space of his back between his shoulders and would grab the boy's ears to "drive" him through the sky toward where he had sensed that menacing aura. "You should have said you could fly, hoomin!! I have need of your aid to save the world! Come!" There would be a hearty fit of laughter before Sparklepants called down to Jin, "I dub thee my humble squires on my quest! Try to keep up Mister Sparkletoes!" It would seem that they were on their way toward the village's sky docks, particularly toward the storage facilities. Mister Sparklepants was sure to apply his claws to Chikato's ears for piloting the boy in a firm, but relatively gentle way. "Be ready, Red Canary, for we are in the jowls of the enemy's dastardly foil, now!" When they got near the sky docks' storage area, the cat would dismount with a tumbling flip, landing on all fours upon a large metal shipping container. He'd take a moment to lick some glitter from his paws then flicked his tail in such a way that suggested the boys try to keep up. He'd make his way deeper into the facility. It would seem that he was more concerned with keeping to stealth than evading either of them at the moment, but he would keep dodging them too if it meant not failing in his grand personal quest.

Jin could scarcely believe what he saw, first it talked then used jutsu? What kind of cat was Yuri Gorilla keeping? Seeing as their quarry went inside of the strange facility he gestured at Chikato to see if he could find a way to enter from above and he would scour the place from the ground level with Marumaru. Creeping up to the door that Mr. Sparklepants ran into Jin checked to make sure he could still track the cats scent. Thankfully he could, but there was something else that threw him off. "You smell that too, right?" As he looked over to Marumaru he noticed the dogs hackles were raised and a low growl escaped his throat. "Yeah me too. Let's take it slow and keep your nose up for any trouble. I'm not liking the looks of this." Jin grabbed the hilt of his katana tightly and made doubly sure that the large scroll that hung on his belt was secure. He hoped he wouldn't need to use that technique on his first day, especially not on a cat. But he trusted his senses, his training and his partners fully. If things got tough they'd come out swinging. Cautious, Jin and Marumaru made their way inside.
The wide grin on Chikato's face dissolved instantly when the cat in his grasp exploded into confetti. The young man hovered in place to catch himself when all of the sudden, he felt a strong tug against his ears. "What the?!" He shouted as the tugging continued in a firm, but playful way. Without much effort the cat was then guiding the red headed cadet through the air and toward the docks. "I DON'T LIKE BEING RATATTOUI'D!" Chikato shouted through the flight. When the two finally arrived and the cat jumped off of him the young man immediately grabbed at his ears and stroked them until they soothed over. "You're no cat, are you?" He said as he hovered briefly in the air. "My grandmother told stories of you. Yokai. Beings which could blend in as they needed to, but then struck down samurai foolish enough to lower their guards." He said with a narrow stare at the flamboyant feline. Given that he was now in a situation with a real threat, he waited until his partner caught up before he made any further strikes. Once Jin and Marumaru appeared, the young man slowly reached for a kunai without drawing attention to the act.
Heterochromatic eyes surveyed their surroundings for any trace of the gut-turning icky things that Mister Sparklepants was sensing nearby. As he trotted along the tops of various shipping crates he'd pause as Chikato poised a surprisingly insightful question- with a bit of history to boot. He stopped in his search to look down to where the one he dubbed as the Red Canary was warily keeping pace from, "Very astute, yes! It is as you say, Red Canary, but only partly so." As he finished saying this much, Jin and Marumaru would catch up from behind Chikato. Jin was rightfully cautious with his weapon ready to draw at a moment's notice. "If my powerful yet adorable nosey is correct, it would seem that another yokai is making a nefarious nest out of this dingy place. I can't figure out what kind it may- uh oh..." It was then that the flighty feline's ears alertly swiveled further ahead along the aisle the APD cadets were in.
Several heavy footfalls were marching toward the sounds of their voices and getting faster. Before long, Chikato, Jin and Marumaru would have view of four air dock workers shambling quickly toward them. The eyes of each of the men and women in the group were void of their pupils and irises, and each had a strange symbol imprinted onto their foreheads, "It seems I am out of time to explain. Squires! Deal with these puppets while I look for their master." As Sparklepants gave this directive, minded or not, he would jump higher up until he found himself on a metal catwalk up in the rafters of the storage facility. Three more air dock workers would creep out of nearby intersecting alleyways to flank the trio while the other four closed in from ahead. The dock workers would attempt to restrain the lot of them in a messy dog pile of grabbing hands and chompy teeth. It was hard to tell for sure if these were living or otherwise in their current state, so it would be on the cadets to determine the best way to handle their further-complicated run of the mill job.

A yokai?! This job just gets more and more confusing. But Jin couldn't keep a grin from forming on his face. The ambling dock workers moved in a way that lead Jin to believe they weren't people. Good, he wasn't sure if he was ready for something like that yet. Jin was knocked out of these thoughts quite literally as three bodies tried to jump onto him, but if it was one thing he was familiar with it was a dog pile. [ Kawarimi no Jutsu ]! The three forms clattered into a wooden crate with Jin safely outside their grasp. Each of the dock workers still tried to smack into the crate, momentarily thinking they successfully caught their target and turning the crate to splinters in moments. Chikato! Be careful these things aren't messing around! Gripping his sword tightly, it was time for the counter attack. Mixing techniques was likely dangerous but now wasn't the time for that, [ Sō Nōdo: Rai Nodo ] and Raijin's Blade. A strong blade at terrible speed, exactly what was expected of one of Jin's blood. [ Ni no Kata: Inazuma ] Jin's body coiled and exploded outward in a blur, lightning trailing behind him and begging to be released from his scabbard. One strike on one assailant, followed by an impossibly quick second burst of speed to another. His sword was a flash of lightning and the sound of birds could be heard only for quick second. Marumaru grab that last one! Jin shouted over the sound of his own technique, thunder now echoing around them. Bark! Marumaru's small body ran forward and his jaws dug into the calf of the dock worker. Jin knew he had many things to learn when it came to an actual fight, but with Marumaru and Chikato by his side he knew they'd help him if he needed it, hopefully he wouldn't.

Three for three, Jin and Marumaru handled each of the possessed dock workers. Two were disabled in a chirping crash of the APD cadet's charged blade, left unconscious and with relatively moderate wounds with his innately powerful lightning chakra. The last worker was struggling to continue shambling toward Jin as Marumaru did his best to keep a deterring bite pressure on his calf, ultimately causing the man to keel over onto the warehouse floor. Most terrifying was the tenacity the last conscious one would show as he began dragging himself across the floor toward Jin anyway, regardless of the small dog's efforts, "H-help... meee..." An mixed expression of exhaustion and horror contorted the mans face as he reached to grab Jin's ankle and drag him closer.
Meanwhile, Chikato was caught off guard by the other four air dock workers' surprising coordination, and they'd drag him off behind some crates as Jin was finishing up with his lot of unfortunate souls. There were only a few breaths of unsettling silence before a maddening, high-pitched cackle permeated throughout the facility, "KYAK KYAKYAKYAK KYAAAAH!!!!" Mr. Sparklepants paused from his perch atop the catwalk as his eyes honed in on an equally small but significantly more menacing beast jumped out from the alley Chikato was taken into stopping less than a couple dozens of feet away from the remaining would-be heroes, "It's about time more toys arrived! I look forward to tasting your fear, miserable humans!! Kyak kyak kyakaaah!!" Malice permeated through every syllable spoken in its shrill, manic tone. The demonic chihuahua creature's tongue dripped a deep, dark violet saliva as it hung from the side of its jowls and its eyes locked on the dock worker reaching for Jin. "I don't share my toys! You're useless to me if someone else already chewed you up! DIIIE!!!" The corrupted canine's wild, crimson eyes radiated chakra and prompted the seal on the last air dock worker's head to also glow before it appeared to burn into her skull and smoke introduced the smell of more burnt flesh on the scene. After a couple seconds of her writhing on the ground and unleashing primal screams of horrified agony, her head exploded and scattered the contents of her skull around the immediate area.
The devilish dog grinned a toothy grin that no animal should be able to make and smacked its lips with delight, "Much, much better! Now, to claim my newest toys. I've got ONE of you, and-" Suddenly a shimmering blue ball of chakra that looked strangely similar to an oversized ball of yarn came crashing down atop of the dog and masking the area around it with a thin veil of dust and smoke, "KODOKU!! YOU FIEND! Unhand my ward, the Crimson Canary, this instant! I, the great and might Sir Sparklepants, will lead the vanguard to thwart your dastardly machinations." Just after Sparklepants said this, Kodoku, the yokai they were indeed hunting jumped from the floor up onto the same catwalk as his feline adversary. "There's nothing you can do to stop us, Sir Sparklepaaaants!! KYAK KYAKYAK YAAH!!!" The chihuahua's burst of crazed laughter suddenly fell of a cliff before adding, "And I never give back what I've taken... in one piece." When the smoke cleared, it revealed Chikato standing there but this time he had that same strange marking on his head as the air dock workers did. A pair of kunai tore through the smoke, each one on trajectory to hit either Jin or Marumaru.
