As soon as Nora closed the door to her flat, she tossed away her keys and collapsed onto the couch. She kicked off her heels and they went flying across the room. She took a deep slow breath, trying to push down the heavy feeling in her chest that threatened to turn into tears. Work had been busy. She felt like she’d scurried across the whole Ministry at least twice, but that wasn’t the problem. No, the problem was, now for the first time in years, Nora was a single woman. Sure there was nothing wrong with being single, but that didn’t make the breaking up part sting any less. Since graduating Hogwarts Nora felt like she’d constantly been on the move. She’d quickly gotten the job as Junior Assistant to the Minister of Magic, which she loved, but it kept her busy. Then with Galen living in an entirely different country, timing became harder and harder. Sure there was the floo network, and brooms, and about a hundred different ways to get back to Scotland but it just wasn’t the same as living there. And the worst part of all of it was, that she realized that missing a visit became less of a deal, which made her feel even more awful. Nora had come to realize that even though she loved Galen, that didn’t necessarily mean she was in love with him. He was one of her best friends and they had a lot in common but that didn’t always equal romance. With a large sigh, she finally stood up and padded her way to her bedroom. She immediately threw off her blazer and every professional piece of clothing. She wasn’t about to mope in business casual. She put on a pair of sweats before heading back to the kitchen and putting on the kettle.
Once she finished she grabbed her teacup, the nearest book, and went to her little courtyard, if you could call it that, and pulled her legs to her chest. She’d survive, but that didn’t mean it was going to be easy. .
